I really like the setting & style, but the game play looks remarkably flat, even for a cover shooter.

It does seem like this will end up being something special visually, but I can't stop thinking about those black stripes as Im watching the footage. And the more I watch The Order videos, the more those stripes bother me. Maybe its because Im watching basically the same footage and set pieces, I don't know. Was it really needed?? Also I hope devs are working their asses off on the gameplay. We have games like Ryse and inFAMOUS already showing off a little bit of what this console gen can be in terms of visuals, but we need games that really start to feel "next gen" in terms of gameplay, animations, etc.

In other words: I think we need Naughty Dog

Just hope it has a great story. There hasn't been a single original IP on the new consoles that actually told a good story. Graphics and setting look amazing. Don't really care about the shooting parts. I prefer first person shooting if we have to shoot stuff.

Naughty Dog? Lol. C'mon man, if you think the uncharted games brought new and innovative gameplay to the table, i dont know what the hell crappy games you've been playing your whole life.

Shadow of Mordor is a perfect example of what a next generation title can offer. SoM is one of the best games overall in every category i've played in a very long time. AND most importantly of all, its not a shooter.

ND did bring new gameplay to the table, if you think their games are 'just' cover shooters because it's in 3rd person and you snap to cover, you are gravely wrong and fail to recognise the amount of features they've added to dictate the standard in genres for years to come.

Yup, this was the same demo I played and thought it was garbage. You move slower than Gears of War. Seriously terrible demo which amounted to a shooting gallery as you couldn't flank or move much anywhere. The aiming was a bit naff, the hit reactions were off, and giving you a weapon where you don't really aim and shoot but rather just spray smoke around to ignite enemies felt really dull. Also, framerate wasn't so hot. I'm glad I wasn't hyped for this game because that demo entirely unsold me.

Not my fault if this is the same old E3 demo they've been parading for months and won't show anything new for playable.

I think people would be lying if they said uncharted wasnt so highly praised for anything if it didnt have outstanding visuals, and wasnt a Sony exclusive. Those two factors alone, especially when the PS3 desperately needed a good game last generation to compete with Gears of War, have kind of propelled the series.

I cant deny though that ND is talented especially in the visuals department. I just dont see it as being anything other than a TPS that has capitalized on what many other TPS did well, or hadnt done. I like Gears of War, but they didnt really innovate anything and i would think people probably like the Gears of War series more so than Uncharted (not including Judgment of course). I know they are different in their own respects, but i think they could still be somewhat compared. Uncharted series is like Gears in the sense its TPS, has cover mechanics, along with ADS. Uncharted has platforming, but its not revolutionary or anything.

Maybe i'll get trolled but i was more impressed with Tomb Raider 2013 as a whole compared to uncharted--i think that comparing these two is more in-order than GeOW series.

Uncharted 1 didn't have outstanding visuals but was praised for incorporating an a fast movement system with cover mechanics, the memorable cast and narrative style also helped kept the game interesting. I think you're confusing ND's success with Uncharted 2 as more of a fluke rather than it being a building of the foundations they've already explored from the first game.

But I digress, if you think all ND did was polish up 3rd person gameplay, you're wrong, there's a reason why after Uncharted we received a flood of games that started using Nathan Drake clones as their protagonist.

''But I digress, if you think all ND did was polish up 3rd person gameplay, you're wrong...''

I wish they at least polished it though... I dislike the core gameplay on any of their Uncharted games. Shooting never fell satisfying for some reason and they seems to make it worse with the new games in series. And platforming is..eh you know other games have done that part much better before.

Reason for clones is just one - cinematic experiences tend to sell good for now, even if the gameplay on them is just basic and nothing to write about.

Sad part about The Order is - even the director said in interview that for the team cinematic feel is at the first place, next story and then gameplay and everything else...

btw totally agree with everything that @cma112087 said above.

Way to go to find all the explanations in the world for the success of a series other than what actually was - a brilliant work from developers in almost everysingle department a game can shine.

Who said ND brought a lot of innovations to table tho? Their games did felt a step up from the rest (at least on consoles) in terms of fluid gameplay, animations and reactions to the environments and other living characters on it, especially in part 2 and 3. And that's exactly what we need now (imo), something that really "feels" a step up from last gen in terms of gameplay, animations, etc. Feeling next gen is different than being innovative on my book.

Surprised nobody pointed out that this is the same demo they are showing yet again, made back in November 2013, and then shown off since Feb 2014. Ready at Dawn can't wait to show how much it has improved since then. They are taking everybody's feedback on board.
The original Uncharted was panned by IGN in previews (back when they were credible and I had some respect for them) and Naughty Dog took their feedback on board and tightened the shooting mechanics. The finished version was a lot better for this and the reviews showed this. :)
Recently The Evil Within had A LOT of bad previews throughout the year and the final game received mostly good to great reviews from the same sources (although I played the first hour and was not impressed AT ALL, they strip away all tension and mystery IN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF THE GAME) :/

If this is the extent of the gameplay in this game, I won't be eating a cow & I won't be buying the game until it's in the bargain bin. I really want this game to be great, but I'll believe it when I see it... or play it.

You're correct; previews don't always give a sound impression of what the final experience is going to be. Although that doesn't mean we should all "believe" this game going to be any better than it's looked in demos thus far.

Also the fact that they seem to be showing the same game play over & over doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Uncharted is good not only in gfx but story, dialogue, characters, gameplay. I think everything was very nicely crafted and put in the game. That is the reason it became so popular I think. If this game can come close it will be great.

If the story is good, it doesn't need to be innovative! Games are ruined by a badly written stories lately. I played it a while ago, and it does feel very solid! I only hope the story will be solid too.......

I agree with Seth and cma112087.

Uncharted is only good for its graphics, animations, thats about it.
After i played U1 and 2, i didnt bother with U3 since core gameplay was boring to me. Sure i liked the fact characters isnt stuck in cement when moving like Gears of War but still.

I have to respect your buying choices, but it kinda makes me sad to know that a fellow gamer did not experience this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWU-tjHllmY --- If you turn off the sound of the vídeo is a huge plus and a big favor you can do to yourself as a gamer.

I agree about the animations. Animations during gameplay is a huge factor in TP games. That along with gameplay variety and good controls, its the package that does it for me. Sadly the Order looks like its not gonna fix it for now. Had Ryse the same level of animations and gameplay variety and it would be a blast not only in visuals. Take care.
