Bethesda just released these five gameplay videos of Fallout 3, to be released on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 31st. The videos are narrated by Todd Howard, the executive producer for Bethesda Softworks. Update: 720p versions added.
Are you guys worried about not putting warnings in front of some of these vids?
I mean, I don't mind, but others may not expect what's ahead, and as you expand it could come up
Something worth considering :)
These are all sweet sweet videos! Man, I'm so into Oblivion right now, and they come with this. I wish i have time to finish oblivion before this game comes out.
I guess that video answers my day/night cycle question, but come on, the game has a weird look with the lack of shadows and yet it transitions into night--come on.

I don't care about this game's visuals. I learned this from Oblivion. the visuals don't need to be breathtaking when you're talking about t Bethesda game. the game will be so good, that the whole experience is breathtaking... it doesn't depend on the visuals like many other games.
I´m pleasantly surprised. It´s still the same engine used in Oblivion, whose art direction I disliked. But it seems it has been improved. Faces and facial animations which I thought were horrendous in Oblivion look a lot more realistisc now.
And the game itself looks also very interesting and definitely has an appeal beyond the core role playing audience. I think I´m gonna rent it at least.
Are there lower res downloads on the way for the last 3 vids as well? I've got very slow internet (downloading 400 MB takes forever) and a crappy laptop that can't playback 720p vids (streaming isn't working for me either).
Ontopic: The game looks fairly good from a distance so to speak, when you get into more closed environments you can see that the game doesn't look any better than Oblivion. The fact that they had to leave out shadows to even get this level of graphics shows how their engine isn't evolving and not exactly future proof. it had already reached it's potential with Oblivion.
The animations ar just as awfull as they were in Oblivion and the facial animations are just as poor, just as the 2d looking characters. All very negative I know, but I'm still looking forward to this game. The same complaints apply to Oblivion, but I loved that game.
This looks like an Oblivion with guns and that's fine by me. If the gameplay is as deep as Oblivion, I'm definitely going to enjoy this one, I just hope the environments will be a little more diverse than the vids have been hinting at. I hope there will be plenty of surprising underground/secret forts/buildings/whatever as well...just to keep the adventure element fresh throughout the game.
looks nice, and the frame rate seems solid enough..actually it surprised me just how fast it was moving..although there seems to be a speed cap on the inside locations that reduce you to a crawl rather than a walk.
The things that are concerning me about the visuals are the bland textures on anything but the landscape. And the very stiff animations.
The VATS i'm actually starting to like now..though how much variety in them may be a concern if this games gonna be as long as Oblivion was.
The conversation system is from the stone ages though.. i would of liked it if they had adapted it more in a Mass effect vain..and allowed you to manipulate the conversations more.
I really hope this game comes through its development ok..theres already hype on it, and the eurogamer hand on's arent in a positive light.
I also really want to see some vehicle sections..cause oblivion was a disgrace once you were on the horse in terms of frame rate dips
I can already see myself spending 100+ hours in this game. As someone who knows nothing about Fallout but is a huge fan of Elder Scrolls I can't wait for this one. My only concern right now is that damn voice of Mr. Burke. In Oblivion it seemed like every other male character had that same voice and it got annoying fast. Let's hope they hired more than four actors this time.

do you see what i've written? CRPG (C-computer).
im talking about PC style rpg's e.g. fallout 1,2 , baldur's gate , Planescape: Torment etc.
I'm fairly sure that CRPG stands for console role-playing game. Made to add abit of seperation from an existing rpg genera that was on pc..such as text base games ect
I can see what people are saying about the conversations - everything has the very familiar feel of Oblivion with you both stood looking straight at each other.
Still it's looking absolutely awesome. Loving the dismemberment.
One thing that annoyed me about Oblivion - those damn crabs! Looks like they're back in mutant form.

this game is not true CRPG. it is just a mix of action & rpg. sorry, but i dont like such kind of games.
