Xbox 360

We finally managed to get our hands on the pre-TGS Microsoft conference stream, and here comes the fifteen minutes long presentation of Lost Odyssey, performed by Sakaguchi himself.

Looks cool but is there anyway to avoid random battles?

Probably not.

There was a fairly noticeable different in damage when he got a perfect and a bad.

I don't know how it works, i'm guessing it's something to do with timing of a button, and i would guess this build is all but finished, seeing as it is being released in Nov.

I'm a bit sad to see random battles still, but i can live with it, some of the animations are still stiff and clunky.

Simply stunning. If anyone is wondering why their Japanese voices don't sync with their mouths, that's because the mouths move on the English voices.

OMG OMG OMG @ the Battle system . I love turn-based.

great video

the spell effects look amazing. one thing i didn't like about blue dragon was that the spell effects looked a bit realistic in a stylized world and it didn't mesh well. looks like they got it right with lost odyssey

i really liked the somewhat dynamic camera work in the battles as well. i hope they decide to add another angle or two for the attack animations because seeing the same attack from the same angle over and over again gets kind of old. imo little things like that can make a big difference for the overall quality of the game

what really impressed me was the sound. very convincing (the footsteps and the door closing) and appropriate (the swords actually sound like they're sharp and slashing something)

can't wait to play this. i hope sakaguchi and co. can deliver with this game

One minor fault in Blue Dragon that I wished they would fix is adding multiple victory animations. Unfortunately looks the same here.

Game still looks good overall. Timing on the attacks probably coincides with hitting the button as the outer circle meets the inner one, reminicent of the pre-attack timing in Mario RPG.

I could've sworn Sakaguchi said there'd be no game over screen. Anyway, the game looks great. It's too bad they're delaying it.

The game looks great. Great animation too (honestly, real life animation looks about the same).

But holy hell, was that a Kelolon like in Blue Dragon in the 1st battle, about 6 minutes and 45 seconds in?!

if one of your imortal characters is defeated, he gets up after a short delay as long as there is atleast 1 party member still up, but if your entire party is killed..game over

im shocked an amazed, if i ever had doubt that i would love this game, they have been washed away, ive been waiting since FFX for a classsic RPG (random battles, turned based system, tons of cutscenes, the whole thing) i cannot wait

and yeah those were keolon's from Blue Dragon

I can't wait to play this. I personally don't care about the random battles as long as it's not as frequent as Digital Devil or Dragon Quest. The spell effects are top notch, and camera angles are very very good. It'll be cool if they implement a sort of attack combo with their accuracy ring. Sorta like Rogue Galaxy critical attacks or Legend of Dragoon combo system. But I'm seriously loving what I've seen.

Holy crap amazing!

Some amazing animation and game design choices at work in this one.

Loved how he put his hands up as the wind was too much for him making it hard to move. I love the special effects. Man I only wish it were longer! lol

Just a shame I'm not into RPGs that much, never played a turnbased one. But I have to play this!

Is that scene with the mouse real-time? Because if it is thats some impressive animation I think. Looks really natural.

Notice the only one that wasn't shocked or gave a reactioni to that giant creature coming was Kaim? The other 2 were shocked he looked at it as if it were nothing. Just another soon to be dead enemy :)
