Yes but HDR didn't turn on when the game was launched. It was off in the console's menu and the TV didn't show the pop-up message to indicateur it had been activated.

Xion: don't know what to tell you. Procedure was identical to what we always do.

It looks really awesome. Graphically speaking, Zelda Breath of the Wild looks like a 10 years old game compared to this game. Not saying the upcoming Zelda it's going to be a bad game, though.

Nintendo usually doesn't emphasizes on graphics anyway imo. For their games I feel like they try to strive for gameplay than eye candy.

This is true. But the point is that Nintendo needs to pull their heads out from the sand and realize that their fan base is growing up and expects more. Hell, even new younger fans are going to expect more as phones over the next couple years will likely eclipse the graphical capability of the Switch...

BoTW's visuals are fine. In fact, they are better than fine. They're pretty fantastic actually. You need to take into context that it's a game built with a very different art style, and on a foundation of graphical feature sets from over a decade ago, based off of the Wii U hardware spec. You don't go to an art gallery and dismiss a painting just because it doesn't have as much detail as another. It's all about the aesthetic. To me, BotW looks as equally captivating as what this game does, but for different reasons.

i'd argue they don't emphasis graphics because they can't emphasis graphics. they clearly have the ability and maybe even the desire, just look at the Wii-U showing of zelda when it was announced. but then the machine launches, they come to terms with the systems limitations and so we get a cel shaded simple looking game instead. i think the new zelda's art style is a result of a lower spec'd machine. because after seeing what they wanted zelda to be in that tech demo, i don't see why they'd go for low poly assets and low res textures out of choice? it's a compromise. just like all games. they just have to compromise a bit more because they make weaker hardware.

No it doesn't. Now if you're talking about that reveal trailer for BoTW then we are on the same page however everything seen since then has been a noticeable downgrade, add that the game runs at 900p docked and you might as well kiss goodbye to a visually coherent game on the big screen.

Hmm, one is going for a anime cartoon look, the other a more realistic, but still looks like a game look, no matter how technical it gets. BoTW nails its objective in that regard. To me it still looks just as amazing because of that. It looks like a living painting.
