I do only listen to orchestral music from movie/games because that is what I like, valid or not is not an issue when its my opinion.
Also, I said this a few times LONG time ago, I didnt have a PS2 anymore by the time DMC3 was out so I never played it, but I take one of my friends words on it considering he is loves these type of games as much as I have and he says DMC3 is the best one, and going by videos, it definitely shows it is.
Ninja Gaiden has tight gameplay, Bayonetta is flashy...guess which one I prefer more? :P Exactly.
As long as the main character can do certain moves that appeals to me I will always go with that considering I will enjoy doing those move, flashy or not flashy.
I enjoy a good combat when I see one when I see the main character can pull off some awesome moves that I find very cool, Dante in DMC2 did just that.
By the time I was playing DMC2 the movie Equilibrium was out and I saw how the "gun kata" Dante made was from that movie and I thought how awesome that was so I kept doing it that and enjoyed it.
As for you opinion on the music, your opinion carries very little weight when it's justified with "It's not an orchestral piece". That's all i'm saying. I would never buy a CD with the DMC3 music on it, but it fit's the game well and does a pretty good job of setting the mood and that's more important than genre if you ask me. I'm not going to dismiss it just because it's not Jazz or whatever.
I also disagree that 1 and 2 had more memorable soundtracks. DMC3 has a distinct sound that i would instantly recognize any time, which is something i can not say for the other entries in the series, and the tunes are a lot catchier to boot.
"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
Gameplay matters of course, I didnt mean that looking cool while doing cool moves is a done deal, hell no.
As for music, different tastes man, I just listen to what appeals to me and orchestral music from movie/games do just that, simple.
You ought to borrow a PS2 form a friend or something, spend a weekend playing the game. It's fairly cheap now, you can get it at spelbutiken.se for 129:- shipping included :P
"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
I am not saying what it should be, i am just saying I dont like it. Sure it fits because thats the type they are going with, but for every combat? I didnt have a problem with the ones without lyrics though :P
Also, I dont know anyone with PS2 so DMC3 is out of the question.
I seen combo videos enough and a impression from my friend to know DMC3 is the best one, in gameplay :P
Maybe on PC though, who knows.

Though it seems to be the latest trend to release an old franchise remasterd when a new version is coming out.
@Sath:
With most games I turn music off. Somehow I like listening to the action and surrounding ambient sounds.
I play Bayonetta with the music off.
Anyway, here's something from Ninja Theory's site:
"From its debut on PlayStation 2 in 2001, the Devil May Cry series has been synonymous with stylish action, rewarding combat and a brash, smart-talking protagonist. This ‘Devil May Cry DNA’ remains but is now injected with a dark and brutal gameplay that promises to redefine the franchise. Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC will depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment. A true collaboration, DmC sees the team at Ninja Theory joined by key staff from Capcom’s R&D division. Creative direction for the title will be undertaken by Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades and overseen by Hedeaki Itsuno, who has worked on all previous titles in the series. DmC is being co-produced by Capcom’s Japanese and North American development operations."
Now, there are a few things to take note from that:
1) "the promises of a trusted relation" - Virgil?
2) "intent on revenge at any cost" - Revenge? What for? Well, on IGN it states that "the story is following Dante's revenge for his MOTHER". Wasn't she sacrificed or something?
3) "DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay..." - That.
So. Now. Chill, and wait for gameplay.
Cheers,
Hisshi.
Also Trish (Dante's Mother) is soooooooo cool. When I heard she was unlockable in DMC2 I actually played through DMC 2 just so I can unlock her. She was there when Bayonetta wasn't as the only female kicking demon ass WITH style. She had Sparda's sword! and she could fly/float! I miss her.
I love Trish. I hope they will add her in someway in the new DmC. (Probably not)
Exactly thats what I like as well.
I can manage some electronica music, like Ninja Gaiden OSTs. They had mixed and bag with orchestra to electronic type of music, seperate or mixed, it was fine with me.
I dont even mind rock music in games such as DMC, but as long as the lyrics is not in it.
For example this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR3sIWQP45w&feature... now that really pumps me up and its not even orchestra.
Now I got to say, I didnt mind these ones either but the damn lyrics pissed me off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZp_ZI3QtMQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7b4Ew0RIxo
Also, since when is Trish Dante's mother? Hint; she isn't :P
"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
You sound frustrated. Relax.
Also when Trish was created by Mundus she was given Dante's mother's (Eva) physical appearance. I kind of expected you to know what I ment by putting "Dante's Mother" between brackets.
Hint: stop trying to prove u know everything better.
Also yes, i am frustrated. I get frustrated when soemone say completely wrong things times over and over again, even after being corrected. Such as the DMC having rock/metal sound tracks when they so obviously do not. It's not a matter of opinion, it's FACT: the music in DMC 1, 2, 3 and 4 is not rock nor is it metal.
"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
But nontheless, I dont like listening to the lyrics or "songs"...unless its a choir/choral thing going on.
Also Dante has a British flag on his left-arm coat.
Hint: stop trying to prove u know everything better.
No offense.
FROM THE DARKNESS I DRAW MY STRENGTH!!
Also Dante has a British flag on his left-arm coat.
No offense.
I also know every 'piece of thing" about Bayonetta for that matter.
So if you have any questions concerning those games, please....do ask.
.::Chill::.
