"Anorexic mentally ill Dante isn't normal, but on Meth it is".
Building the future and saving the past are one and the same thing : Solid Snake.
I love the DMC series. Sure, it's not the Dante we all know and love and personally I was hoping to be able to play as DMC3/4-Dante. They changed the universe a bit and redesigned the character, but all in all it's the same over the top action, punk/bad-ass attitude and what-not.? So it gets thumbs up from me!
Now, Capcom, I want a PSP DMC3. Thank you.
and Ninja Theory behind it.
i think i gonna like it.

and Ninja Theory behind it.
i think i gonna like it.
Welcome aboard the "we like ODMC" train.
And Devil May Cry was never about story! Is the combat in Heavenly sword good? No. Enslaved? Even worse.
I think Ninja Theory are one of the few developers out there that are able to create beautiful stories with beautiful characters and settings. As they did with Heavenly Sword and Enslaved and the upcoming ODMC. Using state of the art camera-technology and Hollywood equipment. Good voice-overs and mocap and lots more. Real actors.
Gotta love monkeys.
It's obvious their games are not made for you. That's fine.
Great mo-cap and voice acting.
I so wish the gameplay and combat is great considering that is what DMC is all about, that is where I have my doubts on Ninja Theory.
Western devs are mostly very bad in combat department compared to the Japanese devs, so it worries me.
I agree, Japanese are better combat-wise, but we should not forget that one of the most loved game combat-wise is a western made game: God Of War
So in essence...it IS possible for western devs to do good combat. It's just that it's not often the case.
Japanese are more focused on gameplay/combat, while western devs like to focus on story and setting.
Capcom giving the franchise to Ninja Theory is a step which could lead to better western games. (or not depending on who you try to please). To me? I am happy with the choice and I couldn't want it differently. To others? It could be the worst thing, because people don't like big changes that much.
People cling to a certain game/character and thinking about another dev. giving that same game/character a rebirth, is to them a taboo.
So it all depends on the individual.
I hope they (Japanese devs and western devs) work together exchange their strong points and learn from eachother and that it may result into better games for as many people possible. (not just the fans)
People forget that..its not the fans that will keep the company running.
Money will.
But as western devs, God of War is the best one definitely, but I thought Darksiders was great as well, same goes to Dante's Inferno.
Now, I understand that this transition does not give confidence to many, as, for example, when Silent Hill shifted to western dev teams, the series went down really hard (and now, as Yamaoka left too, even lower, I think). Well, except for Shatterd Memories, which, in my opinion, was awesome.
Let's hope for the best!
but besides that fact, this games looks hella interesting! i love psychological twists!
but i agree on the name problem, what the hell were they thinking?!
It's obvious their games are not made for you. That's fine.
My worry is this:
Well obviously it's not aiming to be a god of war nor ng nor a bayonetta.
Again stop comparing it and accept the change already.
No more action you are used to from DMC.
More story.
Which is not ur cup of tea.
Ur not the only one worried. I am worried too.
Lets all worry together.
Anyway, here's something from Ninja Theory's site:
"From its debut on PlayStation 2 in 2001, the Devil May Cry series has been synonymous with stylish action, rewarding combat and a brash, smart-talking protagonist. This ‘Devil May Cry DNA’ remains but is now injected with a dark and brutal gameplay that promises to redefine the franchise. Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC will depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment. A true collaboration, DmC sees the team at Ninja Theory joined by key staff from Capcom’s R&D division. Creative direction for the title will be undertaken by Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades and overseen by Hedeaki Itsuno, who has worked on all previous titles in the series. DmC is being co-produced by Capcom’s Japanese and North American development operations."
Now, there are a few things to take note from that:
1) "the promises of a trusted relation" - Virgil?
2) "intent on revenge at any cost" - Revenge? What for? Well, on IGN it states that "the story is following Dante's revenge for his MOTHER". Wasn't she sacrificed or something?
3) "DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay..." - That.
So. Now. Chill, and wait for gameplay.
Cheers,
Hisshi.
"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
Obviously DMC2 did a few things right or else they wouldnt bring it back to DMC3 or 4.
Also, DMC1 and DMC2 has the best music in any DMC game, I just cant stand the loud screaming metal music, just annoys me alot, especially the ones from DMC3, and DMC4 had just repetitive battle music which was getting tiresome.
I would accept this...
Let the combat be handled by Capcom, story and mo-cap...etc. by Ninja Theory then everyone can be happy.
And with enough bitching we might be able to make the devs change "Dante'" look. Now I dont mind him being with black hair, but everything else has to change.
IMO, Dante from DMC2 look the best because he really looked badass in that one.
I agree that the regular combat music with lyrics gets a bit grating after a while, but you can always turn the music down and substitute your own.

"I still don't know if snakes make good pets, but at least they've got your f****g back."
Lucia...well I liked her design and her daggers, she has potential if she comes back (which I know she wont).
Story...meh.
Music, very bad, not my type.
All DMC games has metal/rock style in it, but they also have these ambient, orchestra, gothic type of music too, unfortunetly, almost all of them use metal/rock music during combat and that is just annoying to me and ruins my mood for playing it.
See if you played DMC 3 you'd understand why DMC2 eats. But even so, the combat was so much tighter in DMC1 as compared to 2, you can tell that the team that made DMC2 and 3 hadn't really got it nailed the first time. Seems to me that it being flashy and cool is more important to you than tight gameplay.
