Some hours ago we were in the impressive Shinagawa-based Sony Building. As we were lost between fancy mp3 players and ultra-fast elevators, a huge lounge was waiting for us, like a big haven for hungry gamers. But obviously, aside from the sushis and lasagnas, we were here for the games. Sony was unveiling a big part of their upcoming line-up, as much as a good number of PSN games.
First anticipated soft, Uncharted decided that having potential was pretty cool, being a good game would be much better. From Snooper's opinion, the combats are still to be perfected, but it's a lot better than Leipzig's build. Some hitbox fixes should settle the problem down. The platform/exploration phases are still great, as well as the impressive animations. Other awaited game, Little big Planet was playable and is just full of goodness. The handling is natural and it is just impossible not to love those little cutey characters cooperating to finish the levels. At a wholly personnal level, I was simply stunned by the dashing Wipeout HD. High quality lifting of the PSP version, the game enjoys its classy design and its rock-solid 60 fps (YUMMY).
The technical kick in the ass came from Unreal Tournament 3 with its nervous gameplay and its stunning environments. We also saw Ratchet and Clank 3, on which Snoop spent some loooooong minutes. Or, the game do not seem to renew anything in its formula, but it's not much of a problem. Last big game of the lounge (if we pass on bad PSN games and the always cute Loco Roco on PS3) Gran Turismo was betwen Good & Evil. Less impressive than Leipzig videos - because of a persistent aliasing and bland landscapes, its still a pretty game, but it should be aware of the competition.
Here it is, it was the most interesting in that Sony lounge. A lot of good games, for PS3's end of the year. Now we're just waiting for PS3's big guns like MGS4 or FF XIII.
