Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

It is without a single warning that the WRC demo was released yesterday evening on Xbox Live, a few hours ago that is. If you own a PC or a PS3, you will unfortunately have to wait until September 24 and 29 to get your hands on this demo, so we figured you might want to have a look at the Xbox 360 version until then. We will start with the cockpit view, which is totally playable, in spite of the odd wheel and hands animations. It is worth mentioning that the footage was captured from a replay, after I finished the race in these exact conditions : cockpit view, no driving aids and a Fanatec wheel. Two more videos will be added shortly so you can see the same race from the hood view and finally, like on TV.
Update 2: One last video with the first part of the Jordanian track.

It looks barely better than an N64 Rally game (maybe a bit extreme) but not by current gen standards anyway. Come on don't tell me they gonna hype the shit out of it. I mean DiRT set the benchmark since '07 and the third is coming very soon (hopefully) however WRC is going to get crushed.

Well, since I don't subscribe to the office chair dressed up as car, center pivot weirdness of Codies' racing games, I'd quite fancy one that handles remotely like you're actually driving something on four wheels.

Sadly, giving this demo a whirl it's oddly floaty and plasticy and not terribly exciting at all.

I agree. The visuals are ridiculously last gen. From the two dimensional trees, to the blurry popping textures, to the lack of aliasing and pre-rendered shadows and lighting.

Wow. There isnt another game on the 360 that looks this bad visually. So, I hope that the gameplay is good... anything to make up for the hurt on the eyes. :)

I was looking forward to this game, but I think I will just wait for Dirt 3.

The game feels a bit weird and clearly easier to handle than Richard Burns, which was really hardcore. However, when you get a hang of it, it is rather fun to play. Not the best, but a lot better than I expected. Now the two main problems are the visuals (something I can live with) and the framerate issues (that I can't forgive).

The sound is more likely from a vacuum cleaner than a rally car. Visualy it's below average. :(

Like Race Pro, then ? Shitty graphics and lot of bugs, but great driving gameplay. I tried it and it feels much better than I anticipated, it looks shitty though....

As for the framerate issues, they exist but they're not too bad.....Race Pro was way worse than that.....nearly unplayable.

I would not say the driving is great in WRC. It's ok I guess but great seems exaggerated. It requires some getting used to, sometimes it's a bit odd and it clearly is not easy when you first try.

Just played it on my 360. Actually I couldn't find any difference between that and the WRC for PS2. The feeling was the same. For me it's a skip.

Because Dirt has nothing to do with Rallye anymore.

Not even close an N64 game, and DiRT is dirt, we all know that. Pretty graphics though.

Dirt is like 10% rally and its pure arcade crap style and not a sim at all. This game is 100% rally and is about 50% sim.

It's not just wierd, it breaks the gameplay.
Try taking a turn with someone on your outside... not possible.

Makes me wonder if they play their own games.

somehow I still like GRID

Almost 3 years to late to the next-gen party! The Demo was very mediocre, lackluster written all over it! What were the Devs thinking?

after having played the demo i have to say this is one boring rally game, and released far too late. although the physics of dirt and dirt 2 are not realistic, i felt much more satisfied blasting through the countryside at 100mph+ in that then i did in the wrc game. entertainment value is lacking somewhat...
