Xbox 360

Bethesda and 2K Games released this trailer presenting the much awaited add-on of Oblivion: The Shivering Isles. Enough new content to lose tens of hour in that game, again.

Actually, it will be sold of the market place and on a disk at the local store, as it says on OXM.

(Also, I can't seem to change my avatar. Any Help please!)

Translation from stupid: I'm not buying this 'cause I'm a tool.

Anywhoo, this looks sweet, sweet, sweet! Oblivion sucked up more hours of my life (and still is, since I just picked up knights of the nine).

I've heard rumers of a shader update as well. At the very least I hope they fix the transition from mid-distance to far-distance textures. Just having a hard edge pop up in the distance is ugly to say the least. Even better would be if they corrected the whole middle distance presentation. Up close detail's beyond compare, and the distant vistas are stunning, but things are ass ugly inbetween with repeating textures and sparse environmental detail. I guy can hope.

Tool? no im just not going along with the not possible on disk BS. I like the market place but i dont see why people should be forced to use it.

I would much rather have a hard copy of it. Atleast that way i can trade it in after im bored with it rather than just delete £20

I stand by my previous assertion. To not buy something that's going to totally kick ass because it doesn't come on a coaster is ludicrous. It's somewhat analogous to turning down $1,000 because it was going to be wired to your account rather than delivered in cash.

Digital distribution is the future of all media, games included. Might as well stop gaming now and quite while you're ahead.

My big objection to this is that you pay as much (If you just look at rrp - have seen the PC version selling for just 14.99)
for the download xboxlive copy as you do for the in the box PC version.

I also can't help but think, that just having more missions and area doesn't justify the price either, I need an added twist for my money.

Wow Oblivion looks so much better in high definition, looks rather crap on my SDTV!

Won't be buying this though, 2400 MS points is a lot and I have barely got anywhere in Oblivion

I have to agree with DeadSaint, I hate not being able to have a hard copy of something. With every new "convenience", there are ten inconveniences. Without a hard copy I can't trade it in, lend it to a friend, sell it to a friend etc... the only thing I can do is play it and when I'm done... that's it! Sweet, I can delete it and download it again next time I want to play it.

housewarmer, your analogy is lame. Money is money... I can understand someone not wanting money wired to them, but either way no matter how you get the money you can still do the same things with it. Unlike solid media as compared with digital media (especially on Live). Digital media is limited to use on that device and can't be resold or traded. With solid media I can use it however I want. Not to mention I have something physical I can touch and see. And if my hard drive crashes I don't have to worry about my content being unusable.

Thats the point. They dont want people sharing the content, thus leading to less sales and less money for them.

I get the point, but the point is not about the company... it's about the consumer. It seems like limiting use and restricting people would gain less sales than just giving the customer what they want (and expect) in the first place.

As to HD crashes, that's a non-issue with XBM as you can re-download a purchase as often as you'd like. And the analogy works ok, the point is to experience something new. The experience is the same whether you DL it, it comes on a DVD, or as a gift from god. If you need something you can touch & see, may I suggest some sort of inflatable companion?

Now that there appears to be a version that will be on disc (I read that OXM too), I'll be waiting for that, even if it's part of a GOTY Edition of Oblivion. I'd rather shell out the extra money to have it on a disc. Hell, how much more than $30 could it be anyway? Besides, until MS releases the oft-rumored 120gb hard drive, 1.5gb is a little much to give up for an expansion pack if I don't have to.
