But I'm still waiting for new AC.
The gameplay in off mode is horrible (random maneuvers until a look on...) and you need the off mode or special enemies will always be in your back.
I pass on this.
Plus its shit that you can't stall your plane and your minimum speed is still absurdly fast, making gun strafing on even static ground targets really difficult.
It could have been good if it had differed from AC by being just slightly more simulation than that series, like allowing throttle to be on a sliding scale and having more realistic flight physics but basically they made a bad facsimile of AC and added a crappy gimmick that is gamebreakingly annoying.
Please, Namco make the next AC for PS3...
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it, wish I had too since I love the increasingly rare flight genre...
I dissagree entirely. I never had any framerate issues when I played the demo(360 version). You CAN stall, but only in assist off mode. Personally I feell that the assist off camera is the best thing to happen to flight games in a long time. Once you get used to it, the assist off is excellent for pulling off crazy maneuvers, and you don't have to use it. with practice I also had little difficulty with ground units either( even those between buildings). All in all, I thought it was the most fun I've had with a demo in a while...
couldnt agree more. i really enjoyed HAWX for the reasons stated above, i'm not a fan of flight games in general, i find them to one of the most boring genre's next to RTS's, especially the simulation flight games. but HAWX really made the whole thing fun. controls really well, and in general was just a more accessible and exciting version of AC.
I had a hard time getting used to assistance off mode at first, but after playing the game 7-8 times, i really feel like i've perfected it into an art. Makes me feel like im playing some scene from top gun.
Slowdown however, i think i may have experienced it once or twice, but nothing like you guys are describing. Maybe a stutter or two but thats about it.
