2K Games has released the first trailer of Turtle Rocks Studios' next game, Evolve. The coop title is expected to release in Fall 2014. Update: 10 screens added.
I sort of rolled my eyes over this being another FPS. That's exactly what I don't want to see in the new generation: swaths of jaded FPS's. But this looks somewhat more interesting than expected. Hopefully there's a bit more too it than hunting down a big boss to fight each time.

Thanks! This game looks awesome, hope there's plenty of different monsters to choose from, and many different map layouts. It would be awesome if they could incorporate leveolution, where the hunters need to activate traps or explosions to change the map dynamics to take down the monster.

Apparently the smaller creatures are the main creatures food, both human and creature can kill said smaller creatures. Player controlled creature uses the smaller creatures to evolve and become more powerful.
I assume early gameplay for humans consists of fighting off the smaller creatures. Potentially a bit left4 dead.
While early monster gameplay consists of avoiding the humans (since you start weak and must evolve) and eating the smaller creatures.
When i heard about this a month or so ago i thought it sounded awful. But i'm actually warming to the idea. I do like asymmetrical MP games. And it looks rather nice. Especially that dynamic fire breathing.

Hmm. I actually liked that Rendition of "Mother". Didn't think I would, lol. Nice to see all those polygons, But I feel a bit let down on the creature design :/ I'll keep an eye on this one...
Edit: after watching that gameplay vid, It is looking pretty cool :) Nice, Next-gen-ey graphics.

YOU are the jaded one, not the games. Just sayin.
And who cares about genre? You shouldn't be against more first person shooters, you should be FOR more interesting ones. I'll never get tired of the genre as long as good ones keep on coming.
Pretty excited to see how this turns out. I love me some 4 player coop (although I wish it was more like 5-6, just because my crew of friends that I play these sorts with has grown by a member or two).

Innovation in the FPS space is anything but what you're complaining about.
I'm not sure how it'll turn out, but at least they're coming with some fresh ideas.

If that's so, then it's becaues the genre has made me so. No jaded FPS's? Hmm, OK let's see. We've already had COD Ghosts? That's not a jaded FPS? What about BF4? I enjoy it, but it is somewhat of the vanilla, been there done that variety. What else? I'm sure we'll get more Halo's, a bucket load more of COD's, a few more Battlefields and I'm sure there'll be plenty more generic modern warfare FPS's to come. Oh, we've already had Kill Zone too. Didn't exactly uproot any trees that one. Expect more of them. Now, if it were something that we don't see too often, maybe like a Half Life game, maybe even a new Perfect Dark or an entirely new kind of game, like Destiny or Titan Fall, and to a lesser extent this, then yeah...fair enough, I'll have a look. But don't say that the genre isn't jaded, because it is. There's far too many of them, not enough risks get taken and the emphasis on pumping them out usually means it's quantity over quality. Now, until the Oculus Rift comes along and reinvigorates the genre a bit...and it will.

Very promising indeed, my kinda game.

This game is contrary to your concerns. Does that word make you less hostile?
