on a 720p monitor, there was severe jaggies all over the screen. and the tilt function worked well but it felt akward tilting the controller to the side to turn, instead of rotating it like a steering wheel. we arent in planes afterall..
Edit: The poster above is dishonest about playing the demo at Target because the HDTV at every demo kiosk I've played across every Target, Best Buy, and Walmart I've been to is a Sony Bravia at 1080p, and the controller is fastened to an immovable bracket that will not allow you to tilt or use the motion sensing abilities of the controller, which is a shame really as it would've been convenient to tilt away from running into walls and rocks at those sharp turns or being able to stay within the edge of a cliff.
The downloadable demo is supposed to be way better than the one in stores. Looking forward to this as an European launchgame.
but when i played it on my bro's ps3 with calibrated crt 34" hd it looked great. alot better than at target.
The game plays great, I was incredibly impressed. I really FEELS good, I mean in the way the motorcycle (didn't play the car one) moves and tilts left to right. It really feels realistic and not in a restricting sense. it just feels....just play the damn demo it's hard to describe but it sure is damn fun.
I don't play these type of games because they are boring =P, but this is one I would actually buy, incredibly fun TRY IT OUT.
(The controller was tied to the PS3 station and I don't think motion sensing was on =P, don't think would of made much a difference anyways.)
P.S: This was my first time using the Six Axis controller, man was it tight! (I don't mean in the cool way I mean in the tight control kind of way, incredibly responsive). The new L2 and R2 triggers...man those felt sooo good I love that controller! I'm not sure about it's weight, couldn't get an accurate estimate because there was a magnet and contraption connection to it (so it wouldn't get stolen) which added to the weight, but it was still pretty light. I like the light feel but not sure if I would want it any lighter then I that.
You're rather good at this game btw Blim! :D
The cars and bikes feel completely different from each other, even the camera works completely different. I love the feeling of this game I'm really looking forward to trying some other vehicle on some different terrain.
The thing I love about this game is that each race feels different, the A.I. will do something different each time I play it. So I getting a different vibe each time I play it, I can't wait until December 7th so play this game, although the Japanese version will not have any online support! :( I hope they release an update to add online support!
This game looks beautiful...I don't see any jaggys on a regular SDTV or on a 1080p TV I just see crisp smooth grapics! It's sweet! :D
You have to sit down and play to appreciate it, but this is one of the first next-gen offerings (yes, along with Gears).
do you have a stepdown converter for your PS3? If so, does it provide enough Watt? You need a converter with at least 400W (rare...).
BUT the PS3 doesn't need a converter because its PSU works from 100V to 240V like the PSP did!
just asking because your freeze problem could be due to your converter if you use any!
my PS3 just arrived in Switzerland this morning.
Did you notice the lack of rumble?
the TV at the target i work at is a smaller 720p TV, might have been about 23-26"
the way the controller is attached, it allows for tilting to the left and right, but not without some force. i simply went into the options and turned the tilt sensor on. i turned it back off because i didnt really like it.
With regards to this vid/game...

It just looks, feels and plays 'next-gen'. Very realistic look _and_ feel to the game, because of not just the graphics, but the pyhsics... the way the bikes jump, the way the collisions take place etc etc there were so many times in this vid that made me forget it was a video game I was watching!! Can't wait!
It also looks like it could be fun, but I'm just not sure for how long.
Too bad that there are only 7 or 8 tracks, that is just not enough imo, expecially if they all look alike, which seems to be the case...
