After the PC footage from last week, here is the Nvidia GameWorks trailer for Tom Clancy's The Division where Technical Directior Anders Holmquist details the technology integrated into the PC version.

Two whole things that hardly make a difference............really? What was the point?

Marketing! I agree, pretty weak offering. HBAO+ is always appreciated though.

Nvidia is on a roll for baseless marketing vids. everything in this trailer could be done with even on board graphics. I love Nvidia and AMD equally but i have to say Nvidia's aggressive marketing is a bit annoying. they try way too hard to coin pc gaming. even way more than Microsoft. just about every pc trailer has to have Nvidia's input now, even if it's just HBAO and 16xAF.

This doesn't show the full benefit. For example HBAO+ usually runs FASTER than other AO solutions and looks better to boot, meaning better framerates. And they showed it off somewhere there's already some amount of baked AO, so it's not exactly the most telling spot to show it. And I think PCSS is a pretty big difference.
It's not a ton of stuff but it's not nothing, it's not bad all told. There's not much they COULD do, most of their proprietary tech has become adopted by the industry at this point and we are seeing dev's solutions for those techniques now. GPU physics? Check. Dynamic GI? Check.
Lets not forget all of the AA, resolution, texture quality, LOD, etc that we get on the PC.

Yeah yeah...looks nice for high-end machines. I run it on medium settings and the game looks beautiful anyway...and runs as fast as hell!

Lmao, no. HBAO+ can absolutely not be done of an on-board GPU. No. I had to use on-board graphics for a few days while i waited for my 980ti to ship, and I could hardly run League of Legends on the lowest settings at an acceptable frame rate.

Um, this is neat and all, but tbh, i don't really ever notice shadows...in fact, when I need to turn something down to increase FPS...shadows are the first to go.

i can't believe that's the extent of the PC graphical additions. dirtier cracks and blurrier shadows. lol

It's the extent of nVidia developed techniques exclusive to the PC. Not the only differences at all.

A bit lackluster compared to other Nvida Gameworks games.

1) It's not.
2) HBAO+ is awesome.

I'm just finished Luigi's Mansion on my Wii (using Nintendont), and I enjoyed in every minute of that game. It means that I don't give a sh*t about graphics in games (as I have done before). Who gives a f*ck about SSAO/HBAO(+), PCSS, and other stupid features, that doesn't make the game better, but just a little nicer. I don't know why I told you this, but now you know. :)

That's fine you don't care about graphics. Other people do, regardless of what you say it does make a difference.

It depends on what On board GPU you have, my core i7's on board GPU could run it. of course not at 1080p or even 900p but i never insisted any standards in the first place.

No it couldn't, because HBAO+ is an nvidia solution, requiring an nvidia GPU to even work. But I see your point. Technically it probably could if you turned all of the other graphics down to low and set the resolution at 800x600. Maybe.
