Video PS3

It's now Polyphony Digital's turn to get some coverage with this gameplay video of Gran Turismo 5. DjMizuhara must have a thing for the Ferrari 458 as this is the car he chose to show us but who would blame him?
Update: The video is now at 60 fps.

That is more like it.
The track stills seems not very challenging but at least there is some positions fights and crashes going on.
Other than that an animated box crew is kwel and I see the repositioned the cockpit view closer to the steering wheel? – I like that as makes reading the dials in cockpit view much easier.

Man, check out the reflections in the emblem on the steering wheel... That's some attention to detail =P

This is quite disappointing... seeing this video makes me completely loose interest in Forza 3!

I love the reflection on the other cars! The interior just looks so much more convincing than Forza 3. While I do believe that the car physics and handling are much better in Forza 3 I do wish that the graphic fidelity was up to par with GT.

GT 5: prologue didn't handle that great in my opinion. Cars felt too heavy and odd! I do hope that is addressed here.

FORZA TEAM just feast your eyes on beauty here! GT TEAM take Forza 3 for a test drive!

Looks great! I DO find it interesting that there is no criticism for how close to the steering wheel the view is. The Forza threads are full of it, and the view is exactly the same. I like the view myself, though. Damn, if turn 10 would just up the HDR a bit, it would look alot better. Especially the cockpit...

All of the cars have dynamic reflections, whereas in Forza it's only the player car, and everything else is static. Small but significant difference.

It's good that these two games aren't coming out at the same time, I'd probably disapear to the outsite world for a while.

Polyphony Digital hasn't pulled of 60 fps minus the screen tearing. As long as this is present in GT5, extra detail really equals to more strain on the gfx engine and that means screen tearing. But, it was already present in Prologue and PD claimed the engine will not be different.

God almighty this game looks good off screen! Can't wait to see that track on my TV. The ligthting is so spot on it really does set a new bar for lighting in videogames.

Now I just need to start hunting for a cheap G25 wheel on ebay lol

Looks very good indeed. I don't get the criticism this game's getting for the environments. They look fine to me (bar some copy/paste tree's).

Gameplaywise, I have yet to be convinced. Wasn't too impressed with Prologue. Also, I never play with steering wheels so this might be very common, but...the input lag is terrible, that must be very annoying?! Or is it just the visual feedback that's lagging? Either way: not good!

It looks amazing.

The only thing that bothers me is that the driver holds the steering-wheel like some thumb-broken-freak. I know, thats nit-picking, but you can not do anything else than nitpick on a game that looks that great...

@Jato,
I LOVE playing with wheels, and no, there is usually no lag even when using cheap wheels. I've never had a problem so I doubt the final game will be anything but wonderful with a good wheel like the G25.

Thinking of dropping serious money for the Porsche wheel that plays on both 360 and PS3, but damn that thing is expensive!

Let's hope so. And yeah, 300 Euro's for the Porsche wheel is a lot! But atleast you can use it on PC, 360 and PS3...that's a huge plus!

So youre telling that gt5 will have screen tearing in final product?
Surely a no buy for me then.Ruins the whole experience for me

I call bullshit, the whole screen tearing on GT prologue only ever happened very infrequently to me and ONLY when I had a whole field of cars in front of me at the time. The final game will not have that problem or PD will simply lower the number of cars by a small number, in fact the engine already looks greatly improved over the prologue one so I doubt it would be a problem.

People also often create screen tearing by running their TV's at the incorrect resolution and PD have always been really pedantic about making sure their games run at 60 FPS without those kinds of problems.

Perfect. The whole cockpit view I dont think could be any better. Rear view mirror was a nice touch visually and practical, just as it should be.

I allays found my eyes drawn to ground rather than the track with first person view (non cockpit) This has fixed that for me.

Gonna have to get one of the wheels the dudes got there... and oh yeah... ps3 duh.

That's because the trees are copied n' pasted in real life ;)
