Blanka isn't obscure, if you show his image to even casual gamers, most will know which franchise he belongs to.
I believe all the Street Fighter 2 (original) characters are quite famous after all the cartoons, movies (however horrible), merchandise (like T-shirts, lunch boxes, sneakers), etc.
Plus I believe the chances of Blanka not being in SF5 are very slim, considering how much Ono loves to show his little Blanka statue.
As for Eagle, I had to Google search to find who it was, now he is definitely obscure. Like Geki (Ryu Hayabusa's wannabe), Maki (Mai Shiranui's blonde twin sister), Joe, Lee, Mike, and Retsu.
I could even see Fei Long, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk as being obscure as well, but everyone in the original Street Fighter 2 is very well known.

i never said blanka was obscure lol. i said i'm more excited to see more obscure characters like eagle instead of the mainstay characters that are in all of them (the ones you listed). and blanka is cheap, he really needs to not be in it. and honestly, i don't think he will be part of the core 16 launch lineup. probably added later.
the fact we have obscure guys the likes of birdie, and charlie shows the sort of direction they're going. i'm thinking we'll see alex from third strike and eagle from A3...or at least i hope so. guile seems like a given.

based on past games. yes...yes he is. maybe they'll completely overhaul him? in which case, fine. but i still don't think he'll be in there. just a hunch. we'll see... still plenty to reveal.
More SF alpha characters would be better.
I know lots of you want to see SF2 classic characters.
However we have them in SF4 for almost 8 years
I think it's the right time to bring some more fresh air.
Only one fourth of the launch 16er will be brand new, so at least we should have some old and rare characters appear in a new way
