But judging from these pics SKATE 2 has set the bar very high. Will it remain the King of the skate genre?
There's not a lot pointing against it.
Despite what It looks like I do greatly enjoy TH games so fingers crossed their next project is something that will really please the old school fans.
Love Skate. I still haven't completed the story part though. Whenever I boot it up I just end up free skating and setting myself little challenges.
Wish-list for this game
-adjustable camera.
I think the shakey-cam thing is fantastic, but some times you want to get a bigger picture of where you are. I'm 50% sure they've said they would do this.
-Off board
Something they've obviously announced but I just hope you'll be able to climb up stuff. It just adds that extra dimension to things.
I've got a few more but I don't really need to make this post any bigger.
no day/night cycle...
All of the screens/footage i've seen are set in this kind of sunset.(just ike SKATE 1).
But i guess that is only a tech problem...with lighting system.
Tony Hawk 1 was cool, it was new, and interesting. Tony Hawk 2 was an improvement, and therefor also cool.
But by now, meh. Yes there are alot of improvements etc lately, but still.. I find it hard to resist laughing when i see a dude in ugly clothes jumping up and down on a ironing board with wheels.
I'm gonna get alot of flames now lol.
Well yea, it is silly, but you could look at anything like that;
Aren't people tired of games where you're holding a solid object that propels projectiles at the opponent.
Or why aren't people yet tired of handling a block of metal with four wheels down a set course.
Some activities are just slightly more abstract. But they all give a certain satisfaction in accomplishment.
Isn't everyone tire of the million football (soccer) games they release every year. There are only so many ways you can kick, throw, hit or bounce a ball (regarding most sports). Whereas skateboarding is unlimited! There are a million different ways to do everything, not to mention your own individual style or creativeness.
So, NO! Some are not tired of playing skateboarding games. Especially since Skate is one of the few games (and the only skateboarding game) that gives you so much control and the ability to move individual appendages to do things naturally like you would in real life. The sky is pretty much the limit for what you can do in Skate.
Yes, this sounds REALLY stupid.
You could have certain spots which become skate-able at night because security have buggered off (or are sleeping on the job).
At least until Virtual Reality hits.
