Konami has just confirmed the final name of the 8th Silent Hill's episode, entitled Silent Hill: Downpour. Furthermore, we learn that Daniel Licht, who has worked notably on the Dexter series, is producing the game's soundtrack. Concerning its scenario, you'll portray the character of Murphy Pendleton, a convict lost in the woods nearby the fabled foggy town, after the crash of his prison transport bus. Pending more information, here are some screenshots, 2 artworks and the game's logo.

By the way, why isn't this made by the guys who developed Shattered Memories? They seemed to grasp the Silent Hill experience pretty well.
You know you're getting old when people around you don't have a grasp on what influenced what anymore.

Yeah I'm intrested in hearing more of the music too. I wonder if they'll have actual songs in there now or if they'll settle for a score.
And although the largely overlooked SH: Shattered Memories on Wii proved the Silent Hill series can still be relevant to the genre, the developer for Downpour however, is a largely untested developer, so there is plenty room there for them to miss the mark.
As a long time fan of the Silent Hill series, I'm personally rooting for Downpour to be awesome, and for Silent Hill as a premier franchise, to return to relevance. And after playing Alan Wake last year, I am seriously jonesing for some more proper psychological scares to make a return to games in general.
. . . now if only Silicon Knights would get around to making an Eternal Darkness sequel . . .

Alan Wake was in dev for a long time, plenty of time to influence this game's visual style. Perhaps its just a coincidence but it is notable.

I'm disappointed that Akira Yamaoka isn't doing the music too, but the reason is probably because he's actually left Konami and joined Grasshopper! (I'm hoping he'll still do the music for the Silent Hill 2 movie though, like he did with the first one.)

And if I may add, Alan Wake didn't intrude in the genera after the Psychological Survival Horror Sh offered in the past, it's Psychological in the same veins as Max Payne is a Psychological Character Analysis. Its a Suspense Ride in a Horror Setting, it can be as much action game as Max Payne if not more when it tries, and more Psychological suspense when it wants to (Max Payne family killing, painkiller trip with baby cries). Its a Max Payne sequel in all angles I see, not trying to be a SH Clone. The good thing i think, is that in plain visual side it make so much strides in the "survival horror" cliché of grainny yellow filters with good post-processing effects to add Atmosphere (wind, dark nights, clear nights, light effects, trees) it up the genera a bit in that department.
And I agree, I hope they find the source of what makes SH good, and try to make it a unique look (the downpour setting) than just a clone of the film like homecoming was sometimes, and indeed bring great and creepy characters.
