Everything about it looks like crap. Hard to imagine how anybody could enjoy something like this.

I had the exact opposite reaction while seeing the short trailer at The Game Awards 2016. Prey reminded me a lot of both Half-Life 1-2, and of BioShock 1.

It's also important to note that Arkane Studios, id Software, and Machine Games have released great games in these past few years with both Dishonored, Doom (2016), and Wolfenstein: The New Order respectively.

And as it was very clear last night during The Game Awards 2016, they have great relationships with each other and help each other out. They even helped Bethesda with the shooting gameplay in Fallout 4.

Also, Doom (2016) had the same problem that during most of its marketing till launch, most people were worried that the game would suck since most showings were either of the average multiplayer mode or weak showings. But in the end it turned out an excellent game well worth playing many times.

So I wouldn't discount Prey just yet, we have only seen very little of it and until we see and learn more about it, we should keep an open mind.

That's a bit extreme

From what I can tell on this it looks like a sci fi version of Dishonored 2. I think that'd appeal to a lot of people, but it might be hard to pull off.

It's unfortunate that this walk through is mostly a tech/ability showcase. If it has a great story it could be an awesome game.

It has the vibe of Dishonered because of the special powers and the gameplay of Dead Space but in FPS. An abandoned space station is pretty uncreative though.
I liked the first concept of Prey 2 more.

Yes, Bethesda is trying to make people forget about that. The original developer was Human Head Studios, they released Prey 1 back in 2006 and worked on Prey 2 until it mysteriously cancelled in 2011 because Bethesda didn't think it met their "standards of quality", whatever that means. There is a long ugly history behind this game and one that has caused a lot of polarized opinions about Bethesda among gamers.

I suggest you read up on this if you are interested in buying this game (or anything from Bethesda for that matter).

This is using cry engine, right? The aliasing is still horrible but there still time to fix that

Yep. CryEngine. Aliasing is indeed horrible. And it's very hard to counter it without supersampling as it's a engine completely based on deferred rendering. Crysis 3 was horrible in terms of aliasing, even on high-end PC's. Crytek explained after many complaints by gamers, that it was engine related.

I will read that. Human Head Studios made Rune, and I'm in debt to them for that. I absolutely loved that game.

looks good, had system shock / dead space feel to it, cannot wait to play it

Doesn't look bad, but it has little to do with the original. It's not like Prey is a huge franchise or anything. They could just make a new IP.

Was intrigued about what this would be, but I think it looks utterly boring.

IMO it's a game were you can say it looks boring after watching less than 10 seconds of gameplay.

Not a real prey game, but i think i prefer what this is to the generic bounty hunter premis of the original. Powers look inventive if a little out there and it has a very dishonored/bioshock/system shock vibe to it, which i'm more than down for. If the narrative is compelling enough to push you through the bang bang sections, then i'm sold.

I loved the first Prey game. This looks terrible.
