You've got to say, fair play Konami on getting the license. This is actually the best bit of footage to come from PES 09 to be honest.

Still, the FIFA demo comes out today, so I will have to wait and see whether I'll be buying FIFA or PES.

Very good news. I just played the FIFA demo and im not impressed its as sluggish as ever. Looks like ill be sticking to PRO EVO again this year.

Fifa 09 is great but this too looks good so perhaps i'll but two football games for the first time in years :)

BTW will Fifa still have the champions league in it?

It will not. PES has the Champions League license exclusive to them for 4 years.

For once they are both shaping up to be excellent games though.

It´s nice to see Konami catching up on the license front, BUT maybe the money would have been better invested in developing a true next-gen engine. And it seems that the CL license was not a moneymaker for EA because they didn´t renew it.

It looks like an improvement, and some of the cut scenes do look nice. But once it cuts to the gameplay view, I dunno, it just looks so old hat. Very PS2-ish. I just can't help but feel that this CL license is a sugar coated veneer to mask the fact that this is nothing but a patched up PES 2008.

Does this mean they licensed every team in the champions league or do they have the same thing with every team licensed except for most english teams?

Sad thing is, it's not all teams. La Liga is lost, so think about it: you'll be having a game at some random stadium with Liverpool Vs Catalan Red or some bollocks like that. Pathetic, really. If you're going be be licensed, then do it right, not half arsed.

Actually, a lot of the spanish teams are still licensed.
