So slightly more clear? I can't see why anyone would pay much for this. If there is one genre that does NOT age well it's the FPS genre.

This game was a masterpiece back in the day, but by today's standards it will feel pretty lame i'm guessing.

Yeh that was a shame with 3 parties and all that red tape, I still blame ninty really as if they wanted to keep control of goldeneye they shouldn't have sold them since they held the code.
I look forward to this as it will give me a chance to finally play the co-op/counter co-op modes without the game chugging to high hell.
Fingers crossed for some online functionality.

I dont wanna play Goldeneye again.. nostalgia is there because you never go back. Playing it again now would tint fond memorys as you end up seeing just how flawed the game actually was.

Yeah, spot on. Nintendo are the guilty party and I seriously dispise what they have become of late. To deny gamers the chance of a XBLA version of such a classic is unforgivable IMO. Everyone was at a win-win, and they'd have made a killing over it, but petty disputes over money is just disgraceful. The gamers lost out and Nintendo, your fan base was all about the gamers and you betrayed them. You even betrayed your loyal fanbase with that shambles called the Wii by neglecting to create some decent hardcore titles for it.

As for PD, f*ck aye, I'll be buying this just for the chance to go online and use that rocket launcher with the camera on it. Still a great game. Even to this day. Shame about the sequel on 360, though. I'd rather pay 800 points for this, than spend money on that tripe.

What are you guys whining about? The Banjo XBLA ports were great, and this'll be too. Banjo doesn't compare for a second to Mario Galaxy but that's not really the point is it?

This'll be the snazziest way to play a 100% faithful version of Perfect Dark, nothing more and more importantly nothing less.

@terranwolf: It actually wasn't meant to be sarcasm. I truly love PD, it's probably the game I've played most, my entire life. :P

But now reading what I said, yeah, lol, it does sound like it was sarcastic, rofl... But come on, compare those pics, they really did improve the models and the textures; and this game's split-screen multiplayer with bots is an absolute blast, up to this day...

Had too many hours of fun with my family playing this in the good old N64 days, hopefully I'll have lots more when this come out to XBLA! :)

That doesn't actually look much different at all....

Looks like a pretty straight (lazy) port to me. After stuff like Shadow Complex, this doesn't look very interesting.

Well considering Banjo was just a straight port with no touching up, this version is a nice little improvement. Sure it could be better, but I'm sure to make it "acceptable" then it would require a not-so-faithful rebuilding of the original and we wouldn't want that. Or would we? I'd have just prefered if Rare remade the original from scratch with a next gen sheen and gameplay oomph.

Seeing as how there was virtually no competition for the game at the time i can understand how people thought it was great, but someone used to todays standards will probably think it's garbage. Unless they've done some major fixing ofc. Let's just be honest here, before Halo kicked console FPS gaming off, the pickings were slim and i'd be willing to wager that this is noticeable today. I'm not saying this to bash the game, i just don't expect it has aged well.

No they weren't. When upscaled N64 Banjo looks nowhere near that good. Sprites for lettering, health bars, all of the hud essentially, aswell as pics of all the characters when they talked were redone, and textures were at the very least resampled to make it look way less smeary.

Go check out an N64 emulator and you'll see what I mean.

I actually have. I worked on a retexturing project for Banjo a few years ago. They are they same N64 textures, it's just that the N64's lack of RAM and dodgy anisotropic filtering caused that smeary look to a lot of its games. When I extracted the textures from the ROM and put them into photoshop and upscalled them, they didn't look as bad as they did in the actual game. They had to be physically upscalled rather than just being ran on a higher resolution from an emulator. They certainly didn't redraw any of the original png's. They just sharpened them up.

Here's how it could have looked instead.

While retexturing stuff is admirable, that's really not the Banjo people remember. Look at the reception of things like early Sega Ages to find out how people feel about their nostalgia being tampered with.

Also, the pic of Banjo and Kazooie in your second screenshot looks awful compared to the image in the XBLA version. Are you telling me that wasn't redone to look sharper, along with the hud system?

Resampled textures were pretty much what I was assuming though yeah.

Of course it was redone, but they weren't redone in a way that the texture had more detail than the original. There was nothing added or redrawn like in those PD textures or the GE remake. This for me was the let down of the XBLA version of the game. The thing is, though, about retexturing is that so long as you stick to the original PNG. and not change it too much, then it should remain faithful. I've seen complete reworkings of textures in some of the screens from the XBLA version of PD and it looks far superior for it.
