First 10 minutes PC Xbox 360 PS3

As promised, here are 6 videos of the reboot of Tomb Raider, all from the 360 version of the game. The footage was captured in hard mode and we tried to show you a few different things without spoiling too much, which I think we've managed. We will have PC videos as well in the week to come, as usual you can count on Miguel to make your computer blush. As regards to the quality of the game, we loved it despite a few flaws and we strongly advise you give it a shot, whether or not you are big fans of the franchise. There is a review up on the French side, unfortunately we don't have time to translate it, so if you want to know more, just get a dictionary, or simply ask away. Enjoy the videos!

does the game look sub-hd to you, on console? or the AA is bad? DF as always, late and useless.

Well, I'm a big TR fan, I've played them all, even the worst like Angel of Darkness, and if this is different, I think it was a necessary evolution. Combat now is fun, which it's never been before, exploration has changed (setting-wise obviously) but it's still there. It's just a shame that the puzzles are limited to the optional tombs (there are 7 of them and they're apparently not very hard to complete). No traps like in the old days, so I hope the next episode will remedy that. Considering this is a new departure for the franchise, it shows a lot of promises, though some areas haven't been fully used to their potential. For example, the survival element is really disappointing: hunting and scavenging only give experience points that you can use to upgrade your skills, but honestly they should have pushed it further.

This reboot will probably make you think of Uncharted when watching the videos, but it has its own identity, very a very particular atmosphere that makes it very appealing to me, even if it's not like the old TR games. I like it, but I'm not sure all the old fans will share my feelings. Maybe you need to be a bit open-minded to accept that the series needed some change. :)

for xbox 360 is 720p + fxaa. the console versions get uncharted like graphics (maybe even better if you ask me) whereas the pc version gets slightly more features. .....you can't go wrong with console graphics at all.

for me, I'm picking it up for both PC and xbox 360 (for achievements.).

Nope it does not look sub-hd and the AA isn't that bad. It is however more noticeable when the scene is set in broad daylight as usual. Download the videos, watch them on your TV, that's pretty much what you'll get when you play the game.

The artworks is just awesome. I love the whole new TR concept of being on the island trying to survive. Well...You say the survival stuff is not what one would expect, but I will get this game anyway. Sorry....but cant watch more than only one of these videos.

lack of any AA whatsoever? subjective cleaning?

I do prefer no AA vs. any, anygood it can be, AA that blurs the image.

The game looks good, somewhat disappointed about the lack of a real survival feature.

Also, did Lara ever narrate this much in previous Tomb Raiders? I kinda wish she'd just shut up and concentrate more on surviving.

Play Legends and have Lara's shitty friends debrief you on the fly. so annoying.

Yeah, that was annoying! I dont mind her talking but then again, the best part about the original tomb raiders is that she did not talk at all. It was you and the world around. Great times...

If by better you mean there is slightly more contrast, then yeah. Otherwise they look identical. As usual the internet exploded with fanboy hyperbole when the two videos were compared side-by-side (7 years down the hatch and they are still doing this kind of bollocks!). You want the 360 to look like the PS3 version? Simple: turn your contrast down a notch. Sorted.

The textures are actually better on PS3, but it's hardly a big deal if you don't see them side by side. I mean, it's one "win" for the ps3 version next to the 100 "losses" for other games. But again, only noticable side by side. Ignorance is bliss as they say, just play whatever version you have and enjoy it.

ps3 is done by nixxes. 10 less frames per second and missing effects confirmed, if its like underword. you know, for being a port from the lead console.

DF numbers and direct framebuffer grabs will tell facts, in the end. if they wake up.

Exactly. You have to put the two of them under a microscope to see the differences. It's cringeworthy that after so many years of these two systems being out, they are still putting games side-by-side to compare. You know what's coming, don't you? For the first year of the next gen systems, all we're going to get are these comparisons. Looking forward to that like I would rubbing my bollocks on a cheese grater.

I can understand them as a multi platform console gamer, so you can get the best version possible. For those who only have 1, it's pointless as hell.

Anywho. Been playing TR underworld (been sitting on my PS3's HDD for ages after getting it free). Maybe not a good idea because the puzzles are REALLY good and i have a feeling i'm going to miss them a helluva lot when i play this game. But i certainly won't miss the god awful camera and combat. Jesus, i don't even get how those elements got through testing.
