GSY Video PC PS4

The highly anticipated The Witness is now on Gamersyde with the PS4 version and some 1080p videos. It is too early to give you our thoughts about the game because we have not really been able to play much yet, but at least you're going to discover the very beginning of the adventure, its mysterious atmosphere and the very nice art style.

Looks so purdy...

Too pricey for what it is though. Id at least expect a physical disc for what they're asking for it.

I can't wait to play this. I agree, a bit too pricey for me as well, I'll get it a bit later on when it's cheaper.

First off Blow is a douche, his games i do respect however. A little generic artistically but his taste in soundtrack makes up for it. Braid was a personal fan favorite of mine, for everything that it did well.

Played a few hours and I'm in love with it already.

Watching a video does not do it any service (apart from showing off how beautiful it is), you have to play it. Unless you don't enjoy puzzles, secrets and exploration.

I have yet to encounter any music, which whilst I understand why, I can't help but be a little disappointed considering Braid has one of my favourite soundtracks.

Why is that? it's more than 40 hours pure puzzle gameplay, there is nothing wrong with the price. People tend to think if it's not a shooter then it's not a game so it's pricey...
It is clearly not a game for those teen COD style shooter game fans but if you love puzzles then it's unlikely that you will disappoint in this game.

But it was the same story with Portal back then, many teen or dull people called it shit :)

nice try. but i'm neither a teen nor a COD fan.

the simplicity of the puzzles (lets face it, they're free ipad maze quality puzzles here) don't do the game any favours. sticking them in a nice looking world doesn't really change that for me. and the lack of soundtrack, lack of meaningful narrative and the fact what is there is apparently pretentious drivel just doesn't sell me on it when the thing costs almost as much as a retail disc based game. i loved portal (included in a much more robust package) portal 2 (i bought it cheap) and the talos principle (far more engaging puzzle dynamics and a good narrative to boot, not to mention it was budget price ON DISC day one)

so no. i don't think it's poor value due to the length of the game. i think it's poor value due to the CONTENT

Talos was also budget price on "day one" because it was a re-released port of an older PC game.

And $40 isn't "almost" $60. It's already a budget release.

Its MSRP is the same as The Witness on Steam. Not "when it came out", but today.

i'm in the UK. it's £30 digital. most disc based games are £35 (or at least that's all i've spend on new games)...that's almost retail price here. talos principle was £25, which is on the limit of being "budget"

this needed to be a price that reflects what it is. currently it's an indie release pricing itself among the big boys of gaming. if it had a more interesting puzzle dynamic and on disc i'd accept a £25 price point. but given the nature of the simple puzzles...i don't think i could even stretch to that.

So you're not even comparing it to the MSRP of a retail game? You intentionally knocked ten pounds off the price of retail releases in the UK... lol.

This game's price is fine. You're cheap :P

i don't knock money off anything. i take the prices games are actually SOLD AT. why would i use the RRP of a game when no-one ever pays it? that would be fucking stupid. lol

as i said. i'll buy it when it's on disc and hits a price point i feel it's worth (£20-25)

I went to Gamestop and nearly every new AAA release is £45. But yeah I'm sure no one pays that (lol).

You're twisting the numbers. You are comparing a "sale" price to retail... but okay.

Why should a puzzle game be sold at less than €30/$30? I mean, it doesn't make any sense. These two games (The Witness and The Talos Principle) are incredibly well-done and they are even a lot worthier of your money than many €60/$60 titles. I really don't get it, but I guess that's is exactly why we keep having more & more sequels of games like CoD, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted etc. Funnily enough, then people complain that Ubisoft and the others are making way too many sequels. :P

gamestop...lol. well there's your problem right there.

and no. these aren't sales number. these are prices i pre-order games for that arn't even out yet. fallout was £35 when it came out. not a sale. not a bargain bin, not an offer. that is how much it was.

not to mention when it comes to physical releases you have the option to shop around to see who is selling the new game cheapest. try do that on PSN...see how far you get. lol.

RRP on new games is £54.99, i don't know a single store that charges that...not ONE!...even GAME don't charge that much and they're extortionists!

the only place you can get away charging those prices are digitally because there is no market competition and no alternative. if you want fifa digitally on PSN you HAVE to pay £55.

shops are differnt though. they all try to undercut each other. supermarkets practically give games away to get you in the store and buy more stuff. if you can get a game for £35 by shopping around. then as far as i'm concerned, the game is £35. and i reiterate. no-one pays RRP for console games. unless you're one of those idiots who went digital only for some reason.

I totally agree with what you're saying. We're not cheap, others are just f**king stupid if money doesn't matter. I also think The Witness is overpriced (as good as no animation, no cutscenes, nothing really spectacular or epic) wich al means no effort what so ever beside doing the same all over again till you got 100 hours of gametime (not gameplay). Digitally "Ratchet & Clank" gonna have the same price, enough said.
