After our videos of the Alpha version of Destiny, it's time now to discover the beginning of the story on the PS4 Beta, playable since yesterday.
You can discover some cut-scenes, the narrative aspect of the game and of course some gunfights.
I cancelled my preorder because i'm not convinced by the beta. Strangly i noticed that i can still play the beta on PS4! Is this a backdoor to get the beta? Just preorder the game on PSN and cancel it on 'account management'?
the concept/art and the plot and the music is awesome and the gameplay is fun BUT the graphics and the animations are not that good, specially the animations are pretty meh. so at the moment i dont feel that "i want it now" :)
After hours of Alpha, Beta is not doing anything new for me...tbh it feels like i am forcing myself to play it if anything.
I am re-doing what i did in alpha, now they only added cutscenes and some story background that was missing, thats about it.
And for a game that has these character specials, you can barely use them much...the cooldown is too long and its mostly shooting until you can use the skills again.
I will probably end it and go back to DCUO were i can use alot of variety of stuff during combat.
Best thing for me about the beta is the sound design. Great beefy effects, music and va is top notch. Graphics on the other hand are meh, nothing to give a wow factor and get excited about imo.
Also played that crucible thing, domination type of game. Just seems so sluggish. Will probably pick this up but aint jumping on the hype train for it.
played Alpha and now Beta..i am still not sure on this game. it does most stuff well but it does nothing amazingly well nor does it have anything too unique.
30fps totally kills the movement too.
finally the X1 beta is coming so i can play with some people, maybe the co-op with friends will make me enjoy it more
Are you guys playing solo? Because yeah, wouldn't advise doing that.
I was hoping the beta would allow us to grow higher level characters, but being capped at lvl 8 again is disappointing. It's basically the Alpha with new cutscenes. I'm already at lvl 7 after a couple hours. I probably will just wait till release.

i suppose this could be like halo (no before you get all wound up just read what i have to say) halo wasn't the epic shooter it became, the first game was somewhat like this so with time i have no doubt destiny can get better, just remember halo was only developed for the xbox and PC, destiny is in development for the PC,360,XB1,PS3 and PS4, for what they have achieved you should be thankful it's not a COD clone, it would have had way more polish if it had been a consoles exclusive and a ton better if it was in development for a single platform, ie XB1 or PS4, i think bungie have done a grand job, the bug and glitches will no doubt be fixed with patches and so far no one is saying it's not like the E3 demo/footage.
if you feel different to what i said please remember this is just an opinion "my opinion" so if you feel different don't bite my head off just say what your opinion is of the game so far.
Wow....
This could be the biggest disappointment of 2014, pretty shocking how much negative feedback it's recieving in these comments. I've always thought of bungie to be geniuses when it comes to making games, I guess they were just stuck making halo for too long and slipped up big time. I can already see the 8.0 reviews and people quickly forgetting about it like that other game uhhh.....what's that game called....O yes titanfall the least memorable game ever created.

I am not fan of either games. But this has so much more to offer than Titanfall. Not sure why you think this is will be average game. As someone else said animation do not look great but gfx are good enough I think. It is like Halo and a bit cartoonish but very beautiful art style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0AP49Xe8Nk
This game is so uninteresting. Literally everything about it. It will still likely sell well because people buy any hyped up crap. Just look at Watch Dogs.
Game is fun (never played alpha so it's new to me). The AI still needs some work though (I've been playing missions on Hard Mode). We'll see how well it holds up in the final version.
And for those who say it looks meh, don't judge it solely as a FPS. You gotta consider the open world and MMORPG elements. It looks way better than other MMORPGs (mainly because most of them look absolutely crappy).
Each planet is entirely free roam, and there are many, many players in the world at any given time. Still a technical feat no matter how you want to classify it.
I was sold on this during the alpha after a being thoroughly bored with all the media they'd released. The multiplayer by itself is a huge draw for me. Still not digging the 3 player fireteam limit but other than that it's fine.
I would say it's more like Borderlands-lite mixed with Halo's MP. Depending on how much content is in the full game I may or may not spend as much time as I did with Borderlands 2, but it's got a solid framework for cool stuff to be added in.

No, each planet has several maps. You can't free roam the whole planet. Yes, there are many people playing Destiny, but that does not equal an MMO. Yes, it is a technical feat, but that does not mean that the concept is MMO. I wish it was more like Borderlands. But that is my personal preference.
Anyhow, if this is a discussion about semantics, then we are both correct according to what we understand under the terms.
Right, not the WHOLE planet, but the planet's entire map. Which is bigger than any other FPS' one map. Especially for the number of players its putting on it.

That's a pretty broad definition of "open world." And I find it difficult to imagine that it's larger than a continent in Planetside 2, which can carry a load of thousands of simultaneous players. Are there any videos online that show the size of these zones? I want to really see/understand what you're talking about. It absolutely looks like an upgraded Xbox 360 game from afar.
Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that.

Borderlands-lite
That worries me. Seems the "MMO" should not be the one that's "lite" on content.
