Yes, the reviews are very mixed. I'll be getting the pc-version to forget the absolute broken game Arma II.
It's a gameplay style you either love or hate. I love it. I'm not going to read any reviews about this game anymore. I'll make my own mind up tomorrow. See you on the battlefield.

This game is just coming out at the wrong time. With Uncharted 2, Forza 3, and MW2 coming out so soon, I don't see how I'll find time to get into a game like this. I don't understand why these guys release mid range games in the fall season to compete with games like Uncharted 2 or MW2. Just doesn't seem like a good idea. Oh well...

I'm sure I'll give it a go later when the price drops and I get tired of other games maybe.

I think this game has a very specific audience. The fans of the original and Arma, will surely pick this one up. Especially if you consider how broken Arma II and the support for the game is.

I know.. odds are this game could of shipped 2 weeks ago when there was nothing out and we were all waiting for september to end.

Same goes for borderlands hitting this month too.. surely to be ignored and picked up cheap in November

Mixed bag? I've been seeing this game get almost nothing but 7.5 and above from legitimate publications (leaning more towards 8s and 9s from the top websites and mags). Unless you think ~70% somehow equates to a "bad" score.

Didn't say it was bad, just said they got mixed (but I understand what you mean) but many high scores. A Codemasters employee posted this on another forum:

I loved arma and arma II but as people have said, they are pretty much broken, there's some superb moments to be had in both of them but almost always spoiled by some sort of laggy buggy event that just breaks the immersion.

If OFP 2 can offer a similar experience minus the immersion breaking broken 3d engine, be it on PC or 360 then they have my money. I just hope the PC version has support for Trackir and allows modding.

The higher scores seem to be mostly for the PC-version.

@Bramski: yes, it has been stated in a couple of reviews that the game is infinitely more polished than Arma II on the technological side. So no worries there.

PC-version: 16 vs 16. Console version: 4 vs 4 (and everyone has three AI partners)

Do you mean 4vs4 so it is 12v12 with the computer AI or its just 1vs1 + 3 computer driven players on each side?

No, it's 16vs16 (12 AI partners in total). Wiskunde man ;o)

Why not go for the pc-version then? It has an editor as well.

Meh i dont really like pc gaming, i use the PC only for RTS games like AoE, and FM but thats it.

I used to be the opposite. I've been a gamer for over 25 years now and I basically skipped the whole xbox and PS2 generation in favour for PC gaming.

Now im kind of a hybrid gamer who will basically use whatever means necessary to get the best gaming experience, platform isn't an issue for me now, I'll even play games on my PC with the 360 pad if it offers a better experience than the 360, be it image quality of certain gameplay features.

Must admit, xbox live is getting really hard to beat these days, they've really nailed the mulitplayer experience.

4v4 with each of those players having a 3 AI team squad holds more potential i think...its not like any actual players going to follow orders you issue them.

Just like Far Cry 2 was better than Crysis (imo), i expect this to be better than ArmA2. Sometimes a change in devs (and a higher budget) is what a franchize needs.

Crysis is so much better than Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 is boredom in a box after the first few hours.

I'm looking foward to the 4v4. I'm a bit tired of the ADD online experience. COD games are great. But after a certian point I feel like an insect, flying around the maps as fast as I can shooting at anything that moves.

That's why you don't play TDM in Call of Duty!
