I feel almost feel obligated to mention how mediocre the Demo was. As to why? I simply can't get all the fuzz about it? I tried hard looking for it in the Demo but alas, it was no where to be found.

that would be due to the demo being japanese. in much the same way mass effect is only as good as it is because of it's story, the same applies with yakuza. if you dont get the story, you're missing out on a huge part of what the game offers. hence why i'm hoping for subtitles. because even though the brawling is about as good as it's ever been since streets of rage on the megadrive(genesis) it's not enough to import the game. we need the story. go play yakuza 1/2. then you may be able to see what all the "fuzz" is about. lol.
