Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

Namco Bandai released a trailer of Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, a game that will probably remind you a bit of Team ICO's work. The player will be asked to play the role of a young explorer and will be accompanied by a strange creature controlled by the AI. The game will feature puzzles, exploration and combat and will be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next summer. It is also worth mentioning that the team behind it was reponsible for Folklore.
Update: HD trailer now available and a gallery added.

i hated folklore. had some of the most boring methods of story telling i've ever witnessed. this just doesnt look that appealing to me, and what's with the absolutely rediculous looking main character? consider me uninterested/.

looks pretty. But it does look a bit like Fumito Uead "Art" Games where there isn't a decent game in it. Show me gameplay footage.

I loved how Folklore looked like, visually and artistically.

This one looks very fascinating and I want to see more.

Though I dont like the big tree looking character nor the main character, the design of them anyways.

But nontheless, it looks pretty cool.

Now that is what I call art. I love fresh new ideas. This is what videos game companies have forgotten about. Remember the fantasy universe of games like Skies of Arcadia, Zelda "The Ocarina of Time", Sudeki, the first Fable, Grandia, Dark Savior, Phantasy Star 8bit and 16bit generation?

very interesting project - I hope they have enough time and money to really polish it (and with that I don't mean highest res textures)

Both of his games are much much more than decent and are in fact "full living" games. Although, if you can't really grasp them, I can see why you would naively fault them.

Here you go player, now find the 14 bosses climb them and stab them, rinse and repeant in this desolated with nothing to add to the borefest.
Yep, pretty decent, alright.

Alas, this isn't a F. Ueda game, albeit it looks similiar, I just hope it integrates a "decent" gaming concept to make it a decent game, not just an art trip at the cost of the player.

oh and... KORNdog, too bad buddy, your true colors don't need to be reinforced we all know'em.

Folklore had great art and creature design but for me it became painfully repetitive, this at least looks more varied...definitely interested.

I'm really curious to see what this game offers in terms of gameplay. Team ICO's stuff is always amazing in terms of presentation and TONS of charm to the setting and characters, but both ICO and SotC were quite short and offered nothing in terms of replay value. I'll be honest, I didn't even finish SotC as it got so stale for me after a while. They just couldn't find a decent enough variety to the gameplay to keep it exciting for me.

This doesn't look like it will be able to match the presentation level of a team ICO game, but hopefully it will be able to bring some interesting and varied gameplay.

I played through SotC like 3 times (normal, hard and time trial) so the replay value is subjective i'd say :P

The same can be said for many shooters on the market but in faster intervals. Run-shoot-duck-run-shoot-duck. It is all relative to what YOU as the player take out of it. The world/atmosphere/story/mythology/mysticism are all alluded too but never shoved in your face. It makes for an extremely immersive tale. It is very reminiscent of an Irish folk tale in the sense of all it's subtleties. If it didn't draw you in than that's fair but knocking a game that caries as much passion as was devoted to its making is a bit low. Especially considering that since gamings inception, many of the most revered games have had simplified gameplay.

I was talking about why I personally didn't get into the game as much as others. I realize the game has a large following. I wasn't saying it's a bad game, just explaining why I hope this game offers more variety.

But I've never been the guy who can play a linear game over and over again, that is really rare for me.

The fact is, that most of the time multiplatform games never reach quality in all terms. Because there is one major issue with the developers and publishers - it is money. They make games multiplatform to increase sales (we all know that ofcourse), but it takes time to do that for each console. And when the time is limited...well. So at this point the quality is being sacrificed for quantity. That is why i don't waste my time on poor games, i'd rather buy exclusives.
