As planned, we showed you a very tiny bit of Rise of the Tomb Raider because of the NDA restrictions we had to follow. We were still able to take you to the Soviet Installation hub, which you can now also discover in the replay video of the livestream. There are neither story related spoilers nor puzzle solving sequences in the video. We only show the location of a bunch of collectibles and a single environment.
UPDATE 2: Game designer Brian Horton announced that all cutscenes are rendered are 1440 x 1080, something the amount of post-fx they use made it difficult for us to see the first time around.

And sorry for asking so many questions, they just came to me while watching the French livestream, and since I could barely understand anything being said, I wasn't sure if you guys were addressing them or not.
Also, to be completely honest, I had 3 more questions, but you guys answered them during the English livestream. Plus I didn't interfere with the French livestream, other than just greeting. =)
Hopefully, you guys get an early copy of Fallout 4 to livestream next week, because when it releases, most people will either be exploring tombs in RotTR or the wasteland in F4.
Either way, thank you so much and good luck!
In the video i hear you guys talking about Eurogamer and that the game is apparently 900p? But i could swear the devs had confirmed 1080p?
The most beautiful thing i have to say is the lighting. the crypts, caverns and underground structures feel more immersive with the glows and lighting shifts. The Underground gameplay is a lot more appealing. looks amazing on the Xbox one.

PS, off the subject, I really do wish the Definitive version of the Reboot lands on PC some time before the next game. or at least release it as an update over the original PC release with better support.
Especially the bows, so good

The key words in what he said are "footage he previewed", meaning that the demo the person - and Digital Foundry as well - played was in 1080p. After that, no other news about RotTR's resolution.
Though the Digital Foundry article (link below) mentioned that the demo they played had some technical issues, so Crystal Dynamics might have lowered the resolution to fix them and make the game stable.

You should ask BlimBlim, if the NDA allows him to say which resolution RotTR uses, it may even be dynamic resolution. Either way, the game looks incredibly gorgeous, specially the lighting and special effects (fire, smoke, water, etc).
So at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if it's 1080p or 900p, it's the second best looking game on the Xbox One, and it isn't a corridor game like Ryse: Son of Rome or The Order: 1886. Crystal Dynamics did an excellent job.
There's a Polygon article that goes into detail on how Crystal Dynamics remade Lara Croft, they talk a lot about creating a character that feels "real", but they also go into fine details on the technical aspects that helps them achieve that goal - which they did. Very interesting read.

Of course - if it's Multi, playing on a PC is tempting because maxing out the limits, but I personally cannot afford a new GPU every 1.2 years ;)
I really don't get this obsession and speculation on numbers that ultimately don't matter.
How does it look? How does it run? How are the controls? IS IT FUN?!? Those are the questions and topics people should be talking about.
Digital Foundry - "Perhaps a post-processing artefact of some sort?"
The Native frame buffer is 1080p for both, it's the shader effects that probably aren't . like most games, shadow resolution, AO, and post effects can be lesser resolution within a higher native.
Here are some samples -

Another example with smooth objects.

It's probably the effects of the Volumetric lighting, or maybe the BTAO.
- Edit (explanation)
Video games these days have a lot of effects handled within pixel shaders - DOF, Post AA, HDR, volumetric lighting, AO, smoke effects and special effects. Each of these processes pass over objects once, sometimes the jumble of effects can create errors for other effects and create edge ghosting. And any one of these effects can run at different resolutions; which could break the effects of multi-sampling or post AA.
It seems so long ago when most gamers realize that not all games were made for them but better suited for others to enjoy so no need to hate. Do we really need to hear why you don't like this game? No we don't. Not sure why you even commented on this thread since its not your game. Welcome to social media where any clown wants to be heard.
Where did the real gamers go that were more interested in the games than the actual console. No one really cares if you have to wait a year to get the game and you have no idea if it will be better. This article is about the game that's about to launch on the XB1. Folks only make those comments because they really want the game but not the console. Sounds like a personal problem none of us are interested in. Geesh.
But then again even still, At some point technology is a factor for upgrading consoles, and if it wasn't everyone would be gaming on N64s and PS1s....and even still those are upgrades from 8 and 16 bit systems.
Both Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft are usually at the helm of advertising living room technology, standards, or a new device of sorts. DF in particular didn't exactly coin pixel counting or anything technological. they're just a site that analyses tech for the skeptics, both PC and Consoles. DF is mainly known for stacking technology to one another, including PC. (for which is where they get their figures from.)
If you don't care about the standards of gaming then you obviously don't have to read it, nothing wrong with that. lots of my friends just game on whatever they got.
