Images PC PS4

CD Projekt RED's open-world RPG gets some pretty screenshots, that come from an early version as the team works on a new renderer. The images depict the islands of Skellige that players will be able to travel during the 50 hours of gameplay from the main quest. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt targets a 2014 release on PC and all high-end platforms.

Witcher game set in a open world while having the strong narrative from previous games might just be TOO awesome to handle.

Yes this is the "old" Witcher 2 DX9 renderer. The new one will be DX11

Looks awesome, but I'm not really sure about the open world... I don't like open world games, they lack depth and focus.

Easily one of my most wanted games, sounds incredible in every way so far. Can't wait to see what it looks like when they put it through the new renderer. It is interesting that when the Witcher 2 originally hit, some people didn't expect next gen consoles to match the visuals on display in ultra...How wrong they were... Still, W2 looks stunning to this day.

These look terrible. Witcher 2 IQ is way better. I imagine by the time its released it will look incredible on PC on the highest settings though.

A couple points: first, this is open world. Maintaining about the same level of quality is impressive by that alone. Second, the awful sharpening filter seems to have not only returned but been degraded even further. I'm sure with that alone being turned off, and AA being turned on, it'd look at least as good as W2, but with a lot more on screen.
Seriously though, that sharpen filter makes this look god awful. I hate that they use that and hope it's less of a pain to turn off this time.

These screen shots I am grossly disappointed with. I hope the final game looks better I loved witcher 2 for its graphics and adult theme.

Hey look, more blue and orange! I have no idea how this Hollywood crap spread to videogames. At least most Japanese developers aren't using this dumb color scheme (except Kojima)

Thats nonsense. When the room is lit by fire, it has orange tint. When its night, everything looks blue in moon light. And what does it have with hollywood? Are You high or You are just hating to have anything to say at all.

I think he's talking about the whole "teal and orange" contrasting colours seen in a ton of movies and movie posters (just google it, you'll be shocked) why it's an issue though i really don't know?

Video games pull from movies whether you like it or not. I mention this in the Beyond thread too.
There's a lot of money there for games who achieve what movies do and put you in control. It's only going to increase as technology advances too.

Is it unreasonable of me to think that the next gen consoles should have 60fps minimum as a requirement? I mean with the improvements we've seen in visuals and the efficiency of graphics development you think it would be possible. My worry is that they make this game look good....but at a cost of fps.

I think that is very unreasonable to assume. No matter how powerful a graphics chip is, devs will simply up the detail more and more to squeeze as much visual detail out as possible and run it at 30fps. Obviously not all devs are like this, but power really has nothing to do with whether games are going to run at 60fps or not because that chip can ALWAYS be brought to its knees.
