Images of PES 2008

Here are some new images of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. The game looks quite beautiful, but somewhat blurry. But that won't stop us from ordering pizzas and scream at each other during championships.

Yeah, bring back Chelsea as a licensed team!

This game is going to walk all over Fifa in quality.

It looks really awful, like they don't even remotely care to make any substantial improvements. Not buying this crap, not for $60.

Let's not forget that the biggest excuse for raising the price for next gen games was that graphics artists were a huge demand, and graphics this, graphics that.........all this just doesn't apply to this game at all. They finally got rid of the cardboard crowd, I can't see much else besides that. Player likeness is just awful too. So where exactly is this money going since they obviously aren't using it for licenses? (they lose them)

I mean, the difference is obvious to last gen, but I don't see my extra $10.

LEBATO, Pro Evo is about gameplay, not graphics. If you want everything to look shiny, go buy FIFA. Oh, and the reason they can't have every Premiership team licensed is because of EA. They own those rights, and they refuse to give it up.

I'm so glad Tottenham are licensed. :D

I understand that, it's too you can't understand what my post is about.

And it's too that you don't understand the costs of games development. You want to know where the money goes? It goes on making the game, marketing the game and maintaining it after release. It's not rocket science, really.

PES has always been ugly, and always will be, and personally i dont especially care about lack of licenses, if i did, id buy fifa, but id rather not thanks lol

Parts of the screens look "blurry" because the game uses depth of field during replays.

Holly shit! I didn't know that........all this time trying to understand when a genius like you could explain it so easily. It all makes sense now. My post is now irrelevant, because it all just makes sense.

Your incredible posts that had NOTHING to do with my post somehow were able to make me see the light. Thanks.

Yeah, i'm soo with Lebato on this.
Look, (i wrote this already) i cannot count the number of hours i've spent playing PES 3, 4, 5 on the PC. And although i could have easily played a cracked copy of this, i've always bought the originals because the game just rocked.
But you see, slowly i started getting the impression that year after year i was getting less and less for my money.

And yeah Slique, games are very expensive to develop nowadays we all know that, thanks for pointing that out. But LEBATO's point, and mine as well, is that these guys are being lazy, always throwing us with this PR crap, about new this and new that, but then when you have the new dvd spinning on your console it's the same old crap. A few more animations, new kits, change players and that's that. And they charge us the same as EPIC charge us for GEARS e.g., a TRULY next-gen.

Lebato, I don't recall PES 6 looking anything like the above in the flesh on the 360, and to be honest, I highly doubt PES 2008 will look as good as the screenshots either. Konami always release screens from the rendered intro movie rather than in game. I don't really care, as long as it plays well. Still undecided whether the PS3 or 360 version will get my cash though.

Is it normal for LEBATO to have "IS WRONG" next to the name... I just got here. I think you should buy super mario strikers or even megaman soccer if it doesn't make a difference. I'm not much a soccer fan, or a fan of games without explosives though..

Why are PC games cheaper? There's no scaling or compatibility-issues on single-configuration consoles, so why are consoleversions of the same game always more expensive? And why are all games on a platform bassicly the same price when I'm pretty sure the differences in productioncosts are very big?

It's all just marketing.. It's a Xbox 360/PS3 game, so it's $60 by standard..
Commented on 2007-09-10 14:20:11
Console games are more expensive because the publishers (in this case, Konami) have to pay a royalty to the platform holder to publish on the platform. On the PC this doesn't exist, it's an open platform.

A colleague of mine said PES08 looked much better than last year's version when he saw it at Leipzig. To my eye there is an improvement, not stellar but it's there. 95% of the time you will be playing this from a long camera angle, the graphics are more than acceptable from that perspective.

Annual revisions of sports franchises are nothing new. In totality, the developers probably get 6-8 months of development time for each version. You're not going to get much more than either incremental improvements or stupid features that don't work. I'd rather take the refined gameplay of PES and incremental improvements year on year over FIFA.

But this situation isn't new people, it's been going on for years with Madden, FIFA etc.

For all saying they are interested in how fifa will look, the demo is supposed to hit psn and marketplace on the 13th..

Player likeness is awful? I looked at image two and didn't know it was Denmark until I seen a very realistic looking Aggar in the background to the right. Player models in this game piss all over Fifa's. Though there is less detail in kits and the shorts look a little plastic. It still looks top notch. Still, I see where you are coming from, though I'd rather gameplay be perfected first, and graphics later, which will come as the series progresses. At least Pro Evo gives you an excuse to go and buy the game because of the steady progression.

If you're a serious PES fan, that should be a simple decision. PS3 controller vs 360 controller for PES.
