whos idea was to have half the screen covered in machine-gunnery and jetpack chassis? Almost as bad as the genius who come up with the MW2's Jelly on my screen.

The screens aren't doing it that much favours IQ-wise, atleast we all know it will look good in motion.

Definitely day one, but I am still skeptical about the control overhaul they said they were going to fix.

Hopefully they start talking about the MP part soon.

game looks great in motion, hard to believe how good it looks but they need to lock down the frame rate

the graphics were the control problem with the first game. they couldn't get that level of detail to work in real time, so they slowed down the reaction speeds so they would have more time to render each frame. unless they've rediculously optimised the engine, the controls will probably be just as bad.

the last game wasn't anything special, though. not sure why after the entirely forgettable first game and a mediocre second game people still care about this series, but as per usual korndog comes in and jerks it to a sony title. you really should quit pretending not to be a fanboy tbh, honesty is a virtue.

Well graphically the change from QSAA to MLAA definitly made an impact. Objects up close look sharper and that blurry look is gone.
And one thing shouldn't be forgotten: Since it's made with 3D in mind you've got to imagine the 'half the screen covering machine-gunnery and jetpack chassis' poppin up in your face...
Just as all those snow and debris particles.

And for those not going to be playing it in 3D: Rejoice! It's running in double the frame rate for you (60FPS).

I love that the weapons cover alot of space on the screen, that kinda makes it more immersive imo. Hate FPS where you just see a little tiny weapon at the bottom of the screen.

Feels more rewarding to play (and look at!) when it looks like this. Nice images!

And whats wrong with everyone saying the first game didn't play well? It did. It was not supposed to be as fast and responsive as Modern Warfare or Halo. The feel really fitted the whole "weight" of the game. Hate that people always wants every single game to be identical.

Well, they've been talking about the differences in level design with this, and I do believe it'll make a huge difference. They're saying they've got more open areas, more instances where you can cover a lot of ground, and just generally they're avoiding the corridor-a-thon that KZ2 was and with controls that are very heavy, not having to navigate through narrow spaces, doorways, etc, will single handedly make it feel better to play.

The first KZ on PS2 played to its strengths better than KZ2 did in this regard. The AI was terrible - completely abysmal in fact - but for the most part you were being shot at from afar, and returned fire across large spaces. That same layout will probably fall right in place and make a lot of sense for this game.

Add to that jetpack sections that are almost a bit evocative of Jumping Flash - genuinely capitalizing on a bit of platforming - and this may well have fun bits to go with its frankly mind numbingly incredible visuals. Hell, even the story setup is more compelling than the somewhat awkward (though in an interesting way maybe? Kinda?) invasion vibe of the previous game. That should at least make for some good urgency and sense of desperation in encounters.

WTF!

I like to see where Im going and what happens in the screen,IMO its wrong having to much stuff blocking your view thats almost half the screen the gear and weapons are blocking.

LOL ,slowed down game to have render time ?!
and people who talk shit about Killzone 2 controls are noobs.
noobs which play Call Of Duty most of their time.
K2 controls were realistic because you can't move fast with all equipment soldier carries.

LOL are you serious
It doesn't take half of the screen and it looks nice.
it would be STUPID not to have jet pack on screen because you would have just floating camera in the air. like you were flying without jet pack -_-

I think the whole perspective in Killzone 2 and 3 are amazing and makes it much more immersive. Look at all objects and characters around at those screenshots, it makes sense. In many games the perspective is really weird and make all enemies look very tiny. I love how it looks in Killzone 2 and 3. Just look at this screenshot, how immersive and cinematic it manage too look even on stills: http://images.gamersyde.com/image_killzone_3-13238...

All this makes you feel much more like you're actually "there", if anyone knows what I mean.

Anyway. Can't wait for this game!

Enough of the snow levels, can we please see something different? Also, I'd really like some new info on the MP aspect of the game. They said variety is a big theme, like far more weapons. I'm curious to see what all they have added. Killzone 2 was really hurt by it's lack of weapon variety and piss poor class system, I'm really excited to see how they fixed these issues.

Piss poor class system?? I can see where someone would be upset w/ the lack of weapons but the ones that were in the game were amazing. The class system is fantastic and I think it makes for the best online shooter this generation (ya i went there). Its not perfect obviously nothing is. Yes the assault class is cheap and totally overpowered with their stupid rocket launcher/grenade launcher SPRINT+extra armor... but other than THAT class, its perfect if you ask me. I'm super excited to see what they've added for the 3rd installment.

it was only announced recently. i'd rather they pace everything out this time around. by the time killzone 2 was released we'd seen/played half of the game already. i dont want that to happen again. and considering it's been what? 3 weeks since it was ANNOUNCED...you're pretty damn impatient if you already expect to see more.

Well obviously the assault class is what I was refering to, and the lack of balance many people had issue with. The LMGs had too much accuracy as well from far ranges, same problem BC2 had w/ the M60.

Unlike you I don't think the game was nearly as amazing, not sure where you are coming from it being a Sony exclusive, but I'm fair about games and Killzone 2 had a lot of good AND bad things that made it a mixed bag for me and a very huge number of other players. It had a lot of potential but a lot of flaws. But i'm really excited about what kind of game Killzone 3 could be w/ the proper fixes.

GG have already admitted to how problematic most of my gripes where about killzone 2 (despite the fanboys attacking me for not saying the game was the best shooter ever...) and in the interviews have stated how they are seeking to fix those flaws so I have a lot of hope/faith that Killzone 3 is gonna be a very standout game.
