God of War Ascension goes brutal

Played some of this today. I really like it. Not very good at it it, but despite that i still find it fun. Something quite different for a change.

This game didn't need this, total waste of time and resources but of course gotta go for that multiplayer crowd.

I hated it when i saw it but after beta, i like it a tiny bit its fun, but they need to fix some stuff. Especially that hidious ground juggle attacks that seems to be present in most of the western action games like GoW, Dantes Inferno, LoS, The Force Unleashed. Its annoying since if you get knocked back enemies can still hit you and you are completely open to any attack and damage until they stop attacking for 1 second so you can come up.
And in this game its chaotic (i like it, but there isnt any defined structure to it most of the time) and that juggle issue is there constantly.

is it full on co-op missions? or just an interactive arena where you button-mash each other senseless?

Also, the games a prequal right? loved GoW3..one of my fav ps3 games, but i feel they threw everything but the kitchen sink at it last time. Gonna be hard to follow up with the WOW factor. Getting the same feeling i have with gears now..that "not only seen it before but played it before" feeling. Games beyond 3 have to shake it up abit... not sure this multiplayer mode is enough for that.

Its senseless if you don't know how to play it well like me, but i've seen people blocking, rolling, parrying and generally kicking ass even if everyone gangs up on them. It feels balanced, and feels like if you where good, you'd do well. It's not going to pull people away from COD or anything, but i actually think this is something that can invigorate the series. Plus the combat feels different to me, dunno if its because its multiplayer or what, but it doesnt feel quite the same. It shouldn't be as fun as it is. It shouldn't really work, but it's like playing a more mental, visually awesome, gorey as hell powerstone. Lol.

Powerstone was amazing! Gutted i didnt bother signing up for the beta now :(

yeah powerstone really does come to mind.. and i'm still waiting for capcom to put that out as an arcade game. Doesnt look like its gonna happen so maybe this is a handy answer to that. No proper co-op though i take it?

Not in the beta, but its pretty limited so who knows?

Somehow, it doesnt attract a bit. Music in trailer is just horrible, but thats the matter of personal taste. For me....it hasnt fired me up for this game.

i agree - this track over GOW is fcking whack - period. They could have easily laid something more epic on their ... - sigh - ... this screams of "sell outs"

I thought the trailer was pretty good (you don't usually get a trailer like this for a beta) and i even really like the song (very sons of anarchy..who is it btw?)...they just shouldn't have used them together...lol. I usually like this contrasting use of imagery and music seen in a shit ton of games of late but made popular by assassins creed. But in this case i'd take sath's "i only like orchestral music" approach, i'd rather this have a track from the actual game, i think it would have worked better.

Just got round to watching the trailer due to the chatter of the song. Reckon the song fits the trailer pretty well (was expecting it to be some awful death metal) and the trailer itself was pretty decent. Really shows off the graphics in the game...seems they are putting in quite a bit of effort into multiplayer and it wont be tacked on after all.

I didn't mind them as separate entities but together, it totally destroys it personally. Also tbh, it just felt over the top cheesy more than here are some badasses.

Looks stiff and crappy like the other 5 GoW games before it. Not to say the series is bad but it got old after part 2. 3 was a beautiful game but the game was too buttonmasher-ish for me.
