If you like Ace Combat, you will love HAWX as everything AC does, HAWX does it even better and it adds great new features. There will be many different locations (Afganistan, Africa, South America, the Middle East, the US - Cap Caneveral among others).
The version we saw was pre-beta so when I see how great everything looks, I think it's pretty safe to say that the game will be technically rock solid. A demo should be available before release so you can see for yourself (the game has been delayed to January but the demo could be there before the end of 08).
Is it possible to deactivate the assistance mode and stay in cockpit view? – I don’t like 3rd person views in these games in general but considering HAWX I don’t think this 3rd person view when deactivating the assistance mode is helpful.
It is distracting and you are not able to fly accurate anymore. For me it sounds like they added a “be cool” feature and bind it to some useful features like deactivating limited flight controls.
And I wonder about the story and presentation. To say it blunt I think Clancy sucks. His stories and characters leave no impression to me and the presentation is usually rather weak with just some radio messengers etc.
I’m well aware that Ace Combat follows a traditional west east conflict scheme with all its stereotypes and that it is spilling pathos all over the place but at the same time this makes them enjoyable and they got some nice CG and ingame sequences to tell the story.
Then Ace Combats is in no way realistic and by that gives the designers the opportunity to challenge the player with unique enemies and bosses like laser turrets, flying carriers and battleships and even a falling satellite as big as skyscraper.
I wonder how HAWX will distract us from repetitive bombing tanks and shooting down other planes.
HAWX might be good but I’m not sure about Ace Combat players liking it automatically and even preferring it.
this game is gonna be HOT esepecially online
To me the story in Ace Combat 6 was just pathetic and dull so I don't think it can be worse here. And I honestly believe that the story doesn't come first in this kind of game for many people. I unfortunately don't have much information aout the storyline but if you don't like Clancy at all, there's a good chance you won't like it I suppose. But that doesn't mean you won't enjoy the game, does it? I mean, as long as you're not looking for a sim.
As for the futuristic side of Ace Combat, I see your point and you may be right but when I said that I was really only talking about the type of gameplay. :)
other than that it rocks :D
I’m not sure about that.

Looks good and fun though, and visually quite pleasing. anice to see a decent looking ground in a flying game.
The story isn't meant to be a blockbuster. Its more real, how things happen. The story is pretty light, its more the details. There aren't supposed to be aliens or anything.
