I dunno, it looks nice and all.. But it also looks like an updated Quake4 engine to me.. Still the same flaws in it like not being able to create perfect round objects and a somewhat platic feel and look to everything.. We'll see, but tbh I don't feel like ID is pushing hardware and tech anymore like they were in the early days.. Now they're just in it for the money like almost everybody else and therefor focus on getting their stuff on consoles aswell..

While it doesn't have the level of realism that crytech create, it still is a very great looking engine/game.

Not sure what to expect though in terms of gameplay.

same here, it definately isnt anything thats wowing me. but it looks decent enough i guess. i'd much rather this be a new doom game tho, but we'll see. motorstorm meets quake may actually be less stupid then it sounds.....lol

the early vids made us all go wow and for good reason, now its just the select images (namely the ones with a good draw distance) these images in particular have a clay like look to the character models which drags the visuals down quite abit and it really does feel like an extension to their old engine. Having said that though, the engine does look very nice still and can't complain too much end of the day, lets just hope they can turn it into something fun.

yet Another example of relying on texturing too heavily. Seems like the modeling is unnecessarally low poly. Textures are great, though...

Similar observations as others. Textures obviously look great. Geometry looks kinda low-poly compared to other games. Character lighting is passable at best.

I'm annoyed that in this day and age they are still using constant ambient. :(

how do you know thats not the console version? It most probably is from the PC but i remember people saying the same about Alan wake, and ME2 footage here too..99% of which has been the 360 version shown.

What is it about people here constantly boasting about their PC's lately? Atleast with the console versions you're game can only ever look better than its shown in screen shots and streamed clips when home.. where as how it will look and run on your PC is anybodys guess.

Speaking of which.. ID have comfirmed that they've got the 360 build running at a solid 60fps now.. the ps3 version currently at a not so hot 23-30seconds. But confident it will hit the 60 target.

dont think i mentioned that it was "hot off the press news".. only that the games confirmed running at 60fps..which can only be a good thing.

You are seriously wrong. Tech 5 is the most advanced game engine ever developed by a huge degree. It's 60fps for a start, even on consoles, with a vast open world, mega texturing for virtually endless variety in textures, and as can be seen from the screen shots, huge draw distances. There is no other engine in existence that is anywhere near this level.

Saying that this engine is anything less than impressive is stupid. The only multiplatform engine that I've seen that rivals what this shows is the CT3 engine.

If it is, it's not impressing me that much with what I've seen of it sofar.. And 60 fps with huge draw distance etc is nothing special aswell (on PC).. We'll see, but the fact that it has to run on 4 year old (console)hardware means it cannot use the latest tech as standard, that's what I meant when I said ID is not pushing hardware and tech anymore like they were in the old days (when they were PC exclusive and you needed the latest and fastest hardware to run their games on high settings)..
