Video PS3

Snoopers sent us one last video before quitting the Tokyo Games Show showfloor for good this evening. And not any video since it's the full gameplay sequence of the Snow demo in Final Fantasy XIII. I've done the encoding with our SHQ process, and the end result looks simply amazing. Enjoy!

I prefer Snow's to be honest. Lighning's summon is Meh. Cant wait to see the others though. It's not too bad jolli. I quite like what I am seeing in combat though.

Okay… Snow is not in the sequence but he is in the fight… I hope they fix that.
Bad cast… bad, bad, bad cast… I can’t get over it… I have to kill myself.

The game looks great but I myself cant stand the Shiva-Motocycle. Too creepy, dont like those wheels attached to the twins bodies. I prefered the old fashion summons ;( Why cant we get a less mechanized FF... since the series jumped to the 3D era only FFIX has done it... and not too well :(

One thing. The low poly handle bar on the "bike". Other than that, it looks INCREDIBLE.

You were looking at the bike's HANDLES? I was more focused on the curves...

The game looks great, certainly much better than last time it was shown. Now show us the TGS trailer that has blown some people away !

I really dug the environments but the character desing isn't for my taste. Hope the characters themselves are interesting and well written..

Also i was kinda hoping seamless transition from exploration/cut-scene to fight mode instead of that typical "flash and camera pans over fightin area"-type of solution but maybe it's not possible cos' perhaps the combat-mode's character-models are different from their exploration and cut-scene counterparts (less polys etc.) ? - But seamless transition would have made the game look more fluid and more "modern" in a way.

But im glad to see that the game runs wel, and looks nice and the combat is fluid etc. This will be the very first JRPG im bying this gen.

Agreed, they have totally ruined Shiva IMO, and the way he kept riding over the ramp looked ridiculous.

Well... i don't think there too much tech: FFXII was more fantasy-styled, so it's ok for now, IMO. Maybe FFIX will be something like FFIX-style, you know :) (i don't mean SD-characters, of course :D).
Well, however - any FF is the game, you must play)

Making the selected target shine makes total sense in a fight involving more than one enemy, but in a 1-boss fight it doesn't make any sense sense at all and it doesn't let me appreciate the boss detail either.

Yup, but the cast is here to stay, like it or not. Personally, o don't like it either. About the messup in the cutscene, yeah i laughed hard at Snow showing in the fight too.

I agree with the bad cast part 100%. The FF style characters have never been a big draw for me, but this has to be by far the worst cast in any FF game to date. Personally I think they are just milking FF franchise to the dry point now.

I think it's time they move on and start a new blockbuster franchise, something with the JRPG genre but mix it up more, turn things on their head. FF7 was a blast, but that was a LONG time ago and none of the games since have come even close to capturing the same magic (in my opinion!!! back off fanboys). I just don't see this game as bringing anything exciting to the genre except for production values, so at least the shallow gamers will be happy....

Looks stunning, absolutely stunning. Can't wait to play it, and after FF12, which I loved, this couldn't be more eagerly awaited for me.

Strange that Snow is not in any of the realtime/prerendered cutscenes. I wonder if Snow was just shoehorned into the scene for the purpose of the demo and is not present at that time in the full game?

I don't think he was riding over a ramp. If you look at the first attack the bike just jumps up on its own. The subsequent attacks look like he’s going up a ramp due to an unfortunate camera angle, which I think might have got stuck making it look weird. Normally you see the bike drive around before each attack.

I agree that the cast looks a little odd but a well written script, interesting story and good voice acting (for the English dub) could easily make up for it.
I also try to consider the fact that it's going to be a very long game, probably 100hrs+ we are focusing on single scenes and judging every minute detail. I suspect that the scale of the game would be enough to distract you from any minor faults here and there.

Graphically it looks absolutely phenomenal, particularly the lighting.

to be honest, i dont think i should have even watched this. the TGS demo is for people at TGS, not for the typical gamer to watch off screen with no sound :|
