Ubisoft announced today that Far Cry 3 was gold and so will not be late on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. To celebrate the good news, here is a while new trailer focused on the game's story.
Shark punching? Hells yes. Game looks like blast! Glad to see some PC videos this time. Still a little disappointed that the physics and destruction seem to be worse or on par with the original Far Cry from 10 years ago, but everything else looks damn well amazing!

Were you kidding about the physics, lol.
Water from farcry had no physics.
Looks to be the best farcry so far.
2 was a bore fest.
I was actually referring to the body physics and hit reactions which look a tad worse than FC1 imo, and the complete lack of any destruction (that I have seen). The bodies also had great damage modeling in the first game, which FC3 seems to lack, and the combat sound seemed much better in FC1 as well
As for the water though, the original FC did have water physics that look about par with FC3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0bd6YRiHv8&feature... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5DON9PJ74c&feature...
Bodies and crates and everything floated in the water and moved properly with physics. throwing grenades in the water would kill the fish and cause them to float to the top. Maybe they just haven't showed anything yet, but i haven't seen any physics from FC3 that look to have advanced much from FC1.
Not trying to sound negative though, that is my only minor complaint. Everything else looks stunning, and I can't wait for the game!

That's because it's a totally different developer. CRYTEK did Far Cry 1, and that tech stuff you can see in Crysis.
Ubi Montreal did Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry 2. And now Far Cry 3. So a bit weird you're expecting the same tech when it's not Crytek.
Yeah i was talking about water physics. Although the boat bobs up and down, i remember putting boxes etc into the water in FC1 and they did not float or move up and down with water. I think the boat thing is a cheat, lol. Or maybe the it was limited to the boat.

I don't think it is weird to expect advancements in a game series after 9 years, regardless of who is developing the title. There are plenty of other games that have things like destruction, gore, and good sounding weapons, so I hardly think Crytek has a patent on them.
Like I said, I still think the game looks amazing, I just think the physics and sound are missed opportunities considering they look on par with a 9 year old game.

I completely agree about the physics ~ vehicle physics, ballistic physics etc all seem stiff to me, too bad cause everything else looks ace.
Exactly. To me physics are more important to gameplay than visuals, but that's just my personal preference. It's too bad Crytek isn't developing this, as I know they would nail the sound and physics aspects of the game...

What constitutes parts of gameplay will always be more important to me too than visuals.
