the original FC for the PC was a great game, and FC2 is also looking to be a great game, i really hope it delivers, a definite must buy for me, right up there with fallout 3, LBP and motorstorm 2(all october releases BTW).

I see the one released on 360 as a expansion pack of the first, hence there is no "2" on the title.

But I am interested in this game, but I need to know how it feels to aim and shoot because the one on 360 was bad.
A demo on PS3/360 would be very nice.

The Far Cry franchise on Xbox and Xbox 360 were no sequels to Far Cry on PC. The best Far Cry on console was Far Cry Instinctis on the original Xbox, but was not as good as Far Cry on PC, which was a great FPS for it's time. But as I said already in other posts: you can't compare Far Cry with Far Cry 2 because they are completely different games and are made by different developpers.

About the trailer: I had the impression that the graphics were toned down compared to other media from this game.

I'm hoping I have this straight:
"Instincts" was the Xbox version of the Pc version of FarCry, altered for technical reasons.

"Evolution" was the standalone expansion for "Instincts"

"Predator" was essentially "Instincts" and "evolution" in one package, with greatly enhanced graphics and some tweaks and additions here and there; made exclusively for the Xbox360.

Is that correct?

Then we have Crysis (Pc only) made by the original developer, but unable to use the original name, and Far Cry 2 which is a different developer, but by a publisher who bought the rights to the name.

Almost right, "Instincts" was not an altered port from the PC but a totally different game.

Fucking hell, I hate these shop exclusives! Who ever thought that screwing over the potential buyers that don't have access to a 'gamestop' shop was a good idea?

Different developer, completely disconnected plot, and this is the true sequel? It basically just has the broadest concepts in common.. and well.. a tacked on name. It still looks pretty cool though, I'll probably pick it up if the system requirements are in line with Warheads. If it's any more demanding I'll be pretty disappointed.

In Belgium you can buy the limited edition as well. I don't know if the six extra missions (I think those will be side-missions), are included. But it would sound strange to me if there will be exclusive missions for 1 retailer. Wait and see.

Not that Gamestop is running this deal over here anyway though...but if they did it'd surely be as ridiculously priced as their games always are. "Without the extra charge of the Limited Edition." would mean $10-17 more than the standard edition at other retailers. I don't understand how they're still in business with prices like this.

i dont know why people are complaining about the exclusive offer to gamestop. This is a european site.. the offer is for the americans..so even if you have a gamestop near you odds are that they wouldnt be giving you the same offer.

The vids placed here just as an excuse to let us see more game footage.. the offers moot.

I'm betting eb games (owned by gamestop) will have a similar offer in europe.

Well, I noticed the same thing. It's like they made a quick level with the editor just to present those billboards from Gamestop. But we may rest assured: it will look fantastic.

Although I agree Gamestop/EB sucks to high hell, this isn't that bad of a deal. It's got those extra missions for the regular price and as a whole is a hell of a lot better than a lame ass "Golden Lancer" as offered for Gears 2 or some other lame thing like an M1 Carbine coupon number for Call of Duty: World at War. Those are some lame preorder offerings.

P.s. I hope the game runs smoother than this trailer though & that people don't go lame rag doll on us like it appeared a baddie did off the jeep when sniped. PLEASE don't be as half ass as Mercenaries 2 is.

Vastly different game but Instincts was based upon the FarCry 1 (PC) story mostly.Barely enhanced graphics is more like it. They improved the water effect greatly but not a whole lot else.Crytek sold the Far Cry IP to Ubisoft. Far Cry 2 is being made by internal Ubisoft people, same as FCI/FCIP, but Ubisoft is huge and it's hard to know exactly which people are working on what.Why do you hope it's the console version? I can see a few points of that video that looked bad, but they probably were done just for the Gamestop promotion. The majority of the video looked amazing, if that's 'yuck' to you, you need to give up videogames.


As far as the promotion itself, I'm getting free shipping from Gamestop.com on this game (one of the daily deals) so I'm pretty satisfied with Gamestop's deals in most cases, even if they are claiming a worrying control over game retail.
