Video Xbox One

We took advantage of the last day of E3 to capture a bit more of Forza Motorsport 5. This time I was in control and disabled all driving assist. More details about the triggers feedbacks after the click.

Vibrations in the triggers were present and working, and globally it felt very good. For example, when the wheels were burning or the car drifting, the right trigger (acceleration) had a stronger vibration. While braking, some judder could be felt in the left trigger and were stronger when the wheels were locked.

Damn, it's looking good but I can't help but notice that the car reflections still don't run at the same framerate as the game (60fps), they look to be 20fps at most :(. Hopefully they at least have some kind of realtime reflections on opponent cars this time...

Actually you left the Normal steering assist on, you can make it simulation steering.

I think Simulation steering is like in Forza 4 : if you put the stick to the maximum right, the car's wheels will go all the way to the right (or try) as if you turned the driving wheel to the maximum right.

It's more an option for wheels than pads, in my opinion, as the "normal" steering will turn the wheels acording to the car's speed, to make it feel better.

Yeah, and with analogue sticks as tight as on those Xbox controllers, that sounds miserable.

Xbox One controller has much better sticks that are not nearly as tight.

Sad? I don't get your logic. PCARS is the first racing game to be developed on superior hardware with such ambitious visual goals. It was only a matter of time until Turn10 (and soon Polyphony Digital) caught up and would be able to also achieve more of what's seen, in real life, without as many hardware setbacks. By your logic, PCARS copied when they made it so you can see sun glare on the road. I like what PCARS is shaping to be more than most I know, but before throwing stones at the throne, lets not forget Slightly mad made Shift, which was a distant third not even in shouting distance to Forza or GT.

Absolutely. What is this game even bringing to so called next gen ? How many AI cars on track ? no night racing, no dynamic lighting. Showing the cars in showroom they are trying to impress console gamers. lol.

"Mediocre at best"?! You exaggerate! First off, PCs have virtually limitless power when compared to consoles, so those games should be far superior (emphasis on SHOULD). But lets take a closer look. We've never seen any PC racer attempt to look as good as what PCARS has set out to look like, so there is no solid reason to assume the game will look significantly better when completed than it does right now. Especially since racing games require more processing power than any other genre. The studio can claim "Pre-Alpha" to the day it's released, and nobody would question it. The majority of their geometric resources have clearly gone into the cars, and as a result the environments suffer immensely. It's easy to take jabs at console developers and their limited resources but understand they're the true trailblazers of gaming because of the amazing feats they've accomplished with inferior hardware almost 10yrs old. You think, that with all Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 (and let's not forget Code Masters) have accomplished on consoles, they wouldn't run circles around Slightly Mad if under the same PC gaming parameters, just as they did when they faced off on current-gen systems?! I don't see why things would be any different. Regarding Dynamic lighting, yes, it's cute to see transitions from day to night but unless you're racing (on average) long enough to see that change in realtime, it's not necessary and a waste of resources. The link to the montage you posted was nice, but also more than likely put together in some video editing software and given a little help. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that's what you're getting trackside considering the most up to date footage I've seen (and I keep track regularly), looks nowhere close to that. Food for thought.

Soo basically iyou are saying console is weak and this is the best it can do ? I know XO is not powerful console but I think it is possible. I think the dev and console both are to blame.

Consoles are, and always have been weak in comparison to a top end PC. There's a reason that consoles cost £400 whereas flagship graphics cards cost £800.

Also, consoles should never be judged on launch lineups. Half of their development is made without even having final dev kits.

EXACTLY! It's also safe to assume M$ is riding Turn 10 to produce by launch, and doesn't care much for what else could be done given more time. Especially since Forza is the main reason for many (myself included) to even consider this console.

Citizenx Answered your initial response well enough. You can blame the developers, but I also think you need to consider the pressure M$ is putting on T10 to release by launch. How $on¥ is going without Gran Turismo by P$4's launch is a mystery to me. Perhaps it's confidence, or maybe it's just sensibility. With their sophomore attempts on these new systems, you'll see huge improvements from console devs. So much so, it'll force the PC devs to leave their comfort zones and do something truly innovative instead of just benefiting from raw power, or risk being embarrassed by handicapped competition.

This just looks like an upgraded Forza4. I also want to know how many new features it has compared to last and current gen games. So far there is nothing special ?

GT on PS4 will have night racing, 24hrs and weather. They already have on PS3 on few tracks. Also drive club in having 24hrs cycle, night racing. Forza horizon had it as well but not in this one.

It does look awesome. A jump to something like that will be significant. Forza2 on 360 did not push the bar. Actually PGR3 looked better instead. Of course 30 fps. Just wondering how good Grid will be on next gen.
