Forza 3 may have been the star of the show in Snoopers' last exclusive videos but EA has decided to steal a bit of its thunder with Need for Speed: Shift. In these new screenshots of the Mégane RS, we can see that the game still looks pretty impressive. And talking about exclusive videos, I remind you that our favorite adventurous reporter in green tight jeans had brought us back some nice footage from last E3.

They can try, true but these screens certainly fail to impress in all honesty.

The screens aren't majorly impressive, but the difference between this and Forza 3 is that this actually looks better in motion than the screenshots, whereas with Forza 3, it's quite the opposite.

NFS:Shift to me looks like what PGR4 should've been, visually that is. It looks pretty awesome and the headbobbing in the cockpitview is very nicely done. That said, it's another NFS...so waryness galores!

I don't know about that. I thought PGR 4 looked stunning for the time and still does. You're right about this game looking better in motion than what it does in screens, though, what with all the lovely post-processing effects the engine can afford to throw about due to the lack of detail on the cars etc etc. However, I've said it once before: this game should not be compared to F3 visually, because when it comes down to the nitty-gritty detail, it loses...badly.

Definitely, in terms of car detail (and environmental detail most likely) Forza 3 completely destroys this. But, they make up a fair bit with the, imo awesome, post-processing effects...

I think they did a nice job on the details and colors for the environment, especially the vegetation.

I think it still looks very nice.
I still hope that this game proves to be decent since it will most likely have different feel to it than e.g. Forza 3 which is nice from time to time too.

they really should drop the Need for speed brand on this and offer it its own Shift brand.

Having "need for speed" in the title will do more harm than good these days due to EA's raping the licence, and lack of quality control during such milking.

I still hold high hopes for this title. It looks fantastic, as long as it is realistic in terms of physics and car handling I'll be very happy indeed.

Looks pretty good and ^ya the cockpit view is better but the rest of the graphics in F3 is better. Unfortunately, I think this will be an arcade racer disguised as a sim--kind of like grid.

This is actual screenplay while Forza is from photomode. Apparently SHIFT will have sidewall tire flex just like FM3 (both physics and visual), totally modifiable external (aero kit, weight reduction) and internal (dashboard display ie. Motec, being able to remove passenger's seat to reduce weight). While FM3 physics engine runs at respectable 360 hz, SHIFT is 60 hz higher at 420 hz. And to top it all off, while FM3 is stuck at 8 car grid, SHIFT will have 16 for both SP and MP. Finally, a good car count for Nordschliefe. Here' an interview with Slightly Mad Studios (SHIFT's developer) Ian Bell: http://www.drivingitalia.net/articoli.php?sez=soft...

There is so much wrong saying this thing looks better than FM3 I can't even begin to understand why some people think this looks better. Funny enough no one can't say why, lol, just "looks better than FM". I agree for example that the blur is nice (should be standard in all racers--but that's about it).

This shot speaks volumes, and pretty much all others not hidden in a frenzy of blur.

http://images.gamersyde.com/image_need_for_speed__...

And someone mentions the car count. Honestly, with car models that damn ugly using possibly 1/4 of the polys that FM/GT are using is not an achievement. And doesn't this run at 30fps anyways? Alright!!!

Anyone who thinks it looks better that FM3 just hasn't a clue about several factors that makes a game impressive visually. No clue about modeling; no clue about texturing, lighting etc etc. Sure the blur effects, and the shakey cam stuff looks very nice and very cinematic, but it doesn't hold a candle to FM3 if you strip those things away from it. You only need to look at a car model in FM3 being shown off up close in full detail to realize the difference. I'd love to see a close inspection comparing the two. Only one winner without stating the obvious.

it looks not bad, but from a graphical standpoint i can tell you that forza 3 looks better, the car models this time are round 1 000 000 polys and shift looks like 100 000 or even less. At all Shift is a multiplatform game and forza is exclusive build for 360. i would say its a huge step from nfs undercover.

This doesn't hold a candle on Forza 3 . I remember some EA guy saying this one will be better than Forza.

(Why every single game here is hyped/praised on descriptions: NFS, GRID, GT... expect Forza 3? )
