Borderlands new trailer

Borderlands new trailer

Gearbox has released this new trailer of Borderlands. The game has a really original visual style and it can't be denied it looks good. Now, we will see if this mix between a FPS and a hack n slash will be convincing enough for the players to jump in.

@The game has a really original visual style and it can't be denied it looks good.: It looks good in places, and really bland visually in shooting scenes: Bad animation and weak textures, but seems to be a one of a kind type of game in this day and age... I'l keep an eye for more updates.

It instantly reminds me of Crackdown, minus the colour. Imo, it looks great, could be a great game even, but I'm not sure they're doing it a favour by releasing it for the holiday season. It has been such a dull year so far, it could easily be a hit in spring/summer... :-/

Unless you are Modern Warfare 2 it's always a bad strategy to release around Christmas :P

The enthousiasm of Randy Pitchford about this game makes me think it is a great game. But does this game have an audience? I don't know if the real FPS-fans will like all the RPG stuff, and I don't know if the RPG-fans will like all the FPS stuff. Also, as it is built to be played in 4 player co-op, how can you have a good campaign experience with a good story? It works great for Left 4 Dead because those were seperate replayable campaigns, but will it work for a complete story driven campaign? Finding 3 players every time to play the campaign at an overlapping point doens't seem so evident.

Damn, these people know how to make good trailers.

The game's looking really good - I'm still not sure whether I'm going to pick it up mself, but it's really tempting.

I think their policy of only showing the rocky desert area is going to backfire. Even just a quick glimpse of terrain variety would quash the feeling that it could be a bit of a one-note game.

I feel like I have to give it a try but if what people are saying about a forced 4 player co-op scheme is a concrete forced fact there will be issues for sure.

I'm also feeling that the graphical change from what was in their original teaser trailer to this now was/is a sad turn of events. Personally, I preferred the hyper realistic fantasy look of LOST PLANET to the drawn cell type looks of Crackdown, not saying Crackdown did not end up being a decently fun game because it was or that Lost Planet is perfect because it wasn't/isn't, but I'm not 110% sold here, very bland & characters aren't exciting.

The co-op is not mandatory. You can play it offline as a singleplayer, but the game is created as a 4-player co-op experience. It's like you would play with bots in Left 4 Dead + some features won't be available offline (like challenge a co-op player ingame).

¿Crackdown + Fallout? :O xD I like it but october is a bad month: Forza, GTA, Magna Carta, Risen, Operation Flashpoint... I think it will have to wait.

only thing that concerns me about this is how well the multiplayer will come together. BIA's was a disgrace in its multiplayer..and true, gearbox didnt handle the multiplayer side... but i cant recall them with experience of console muliplayer with any of their other games. So this might leave teething problems with a game thats invested so heavily in 4 player co-op.

The other thing i'm not liking is the lack of a demo.. or atleast one hitting before the games released. As i really think this is the type of game that survives or dies on its demo.. and i would of liked them to focus on getting that complete rather than the dlc they're already stacking up for this game

I have to disagree. After seeing screenshots of the original graphics, I'm ecstatic that they decided to change the look of the game. Before it looked generic, dull and ugly; now, it at least has some personality to it.

I would love to see this be a good game, but I'm gonna say this is gonna tank SO HARD.

With the other titles released at the same time I can't see myself supporting this (if it turns out well) until much further down the line. If it succeeds in being both a fun shooter and RPG I will certainly look into it when it hits the bargain bin...

Not sure how it'll play, but I'm disappointed by the graphical style. The cell shade thing just doesn't do it for me, and doesn't seem to fit the theme, IMO. I think they could have made it stylized without going with the run-of-the-mill cell shading. Crackdown worked 'cuz it was a very Super Hero, comic book thing. I could see a style more like Brinks( as an example)- where it has a realistic feel, while still having a functional characature look.

I wish the female character didn't look so boring and generic

Game kinda looks generic too though
