Electronic Arts and DiCE announced a few minutes ago that the beta of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 would be exclusive to the PS3 and start on November 19. 2 images of said beta are available, along with a rather classy trailer.
Stockholm, Sweden – November 5, 2009 – DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 multiplayer beta exclusively on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Starting November 19, PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to experience the unprecedented action, destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open sandbox environments that only Battlefield can deliver. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 provides a true all-out war experience like no other modern warfare game. For beta key distribution details go to www.battlefield.com.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for PlayStation gamers to get early access to one of the most action-packed and polished shooters in the marketplace with Battlefield: Bad Company 2,” says Rob Dyer, SVP, Publisher Relations, SCEA. “We’re happy to help DICE achieve their superior level of multiplayer excellence in the game.”
“With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 we’re looking to raise the bar across all aspects of our multiplayer experience, setting a new standard for online play,” says Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “From the graphics to the vehicles, weapons and destruction, we are delivering the best online multiplayer game next year, and we want gamers to experience it themselves by playing the beta and demo.”
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbor map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game’s four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbor. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.
In December 2009, DICE will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when DICE releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. The Limited Edition is available now for pre-order at participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).
WHY ps3 only WTF? dont give me that the 360 ver and pc version are already working good enough that'll just annoy me lol, my ps3 is down i would have thought i'd be able to sneak into one of the others in the mean while :(
For North American preorderers only... Europeans and Asians have to wait for "local opportunites"... well that certainly sucks. But whatever, I'm not a sucker for shooters anyway, not even Battlefield, so I can wait for the multiplayer demo.
I hope those screens are close to what the game actually looks like. If so, Killzone 2 just got dethrowned as the best looking console FPS. Lets just hope bad company 2's gameplay is as good as the graphics.
Looking forward to playing the beta. Between that and MW2 it's gonna be a fun month for shooter fans.

either way this games a definite buy for me 100%
Same reason why the CoD 4 beta was 360 exclusive. $$$
this game doesnt really look all that impressive to me. but hopefully i'll get in the beta to at least try it out, cant possibly be any worse then the first bad company...surely not?

Bad company 1, with it's flaws, it's quite an amazing game (multiplayer).

the multiplauer was OK, nothing more, (about 10 steps back from the older battlefield games imo) and the single player isnt even worth discussing really.
I partially agree with the glorified demo talk, but keep in mind that this isn't exactly a new trend, especially on consoles. Plus, the beta for 2142 was equally abbreviated, and it's dropping four months prior to the retail release of the game, so it's quite clearly still beta code. Take that for what it is, and enjoy the early glimpse of the game.. since it's pretty clear that they don't expect people to actually *test* this, and will just use this to gather minimal feedback and a massive amount of data.
Bad Company wasn't on PS3. It makes sense that they would want to make PS3 owners feel privileged and give more incentive for them to play it. The 360 market has and still plays the original Bad Company. DICE/EA are focused on bringing the PS3 more up to speed with Bad Company

You people who say reviews are useless, how do you decide to buy a game? Previews? Screens? Vids? It seems downright silly to base a purchase on any of those and NOT reviews as well. (1 Hour ago)

Reviews are quite helpful. If the majority of reviews point out flaws in a game that aren't subjective, then I'd be a complete idiot not to take that into consideration when shopping for games. (1 Hour ago)
zlimness
I spend a lot of money on games, so I want to make sure I get my money's worth. I don't rely on reviewers alone, but if 10 like something and 1 doesn't, its more likely to be a good game than bad (1 Hour ago)

least 360's getting it... at some point. Although by then it'll be as much of a "beta" as the uncharter 2 one was!
Is happy.

The kind I put in my washing machine. Makes my clothes smell nice.
Heh, I see what you did there. :D
It seems that calling it a beta and making it exclusive is the new way to get people to play your demo.
I'll keep enjoying the cooler L4D2, lol.
