PS3

We guess Sony had reserved for the next game created by Fumito Ueda, genius father of brilliant Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, a special place in their pre-E3 press conference. It was not counting on leaks, these little annoyances that can tear down your most ambitious plans at the last moment and make appear, just by magic, your most confidential trailers on good old Youtube. In the case of "Trico" (temporary name), a one year old video that can't represent the current state of the game's development. However it offers an insight rich of promises. For one who loves Ueda's creations, "Trico" looks like nothing less than a miracle.
Update: As much as I love this video, it doesn't belong on Gamersyde. You can still see it as it has been posted on youtube inside. If you want to download it, there are many ways to get a video off youtube ;)

amazing music!! Solid graphics engine too but I am not digging the environment...wish it took place in a forest and not tombs. Enjoyed both Ico and SoTC so will keep an eye on this :D

I enjoy Ueda's games so much because of the relationship between two individuals without the distraction of others. This trailers seems to display that again.

I wonder how far they are into development because some of the textures seem odd or if it is the youtube quality.

Def a target/concept render. I mean if you take a close look the textures and such are OK< but in motion it looks like low grade CG

It looks very interesting at the least. I cant be excited unless I see some actual gameplay tho, so I know if ill even like it

That creature has won me over already. Man if that thing gets killed im gonna cry like a little girl!- The animation is second to none, and love how it has indivitual feathers. And the lighting...drool. Really REALLY great looking game.

Can't wait to see some more. Shame it was leaked thou', it would have blown the roof in Sony's E3 presentation..

This video is not an official trailer but an internal video. I wouldn't be surprised to see a totally different trailer at E3. And I'm asking myself if this "leak" of early footage was not intentional.

I have mixed feelings about Ico and SotC. Both games had a uniquely deep emotional impact as far as videogames go. The Metal Gear stories I always found laughable in how over the top and cheesy the drama was, but Fumito games had a more innocent, less full of themselves approach that worked MUCH better.

Only problem, Ico and SotC are both short and really only have much of an impact on the first play through. Neither game was very excited the second time playing.

This is why games like Halo or CoD 4 sell better, not only b/c they are shooters, but b/c they offer an insane amount of replay value. I played CoD 4 for so many hours it's crazy, but I know that no matter how charming and creative this game ends up being, it won't offer very many hours of great gaming, no matter how special those few hours really are.

I love and want these games in the marketplace, but I'll never be able to get uber hyped for them like so many hardcore gamers that spend far more hours talking about how great they are than actually playing the games.

This kinda reminds me of the concept of ICO for the PS1, then the game came out on the PS2 and it looked so much better. I think this might be from the PS2 concept and the PS3 version will look much better. Either way, Team ICO has not let me down. It's a first day buy.

Yeah, i know its internal video with placeholder music etc. but if this leak was intentional, what does Sony plan to achieve by it ? Creating a hype, sure. But what else? - or arey they gonna be like " if you thought that teaser was impressive, CHECK THIS OUT!" and unveil how the game looks now.

What ever might be the truth, the footage is impressive. The creatures animation is so subtle and spot on that some people might not even realize how amazing it is.

Not that surprising. Agro(the horse) in SoTC had the most realistic animations I've ever seen for a VG horse. At times it felt like you actually had a real life horse as your companion, however lame that sounds.

amaaaazing. Never seen better animations or art direction in a game than Ico or SOTC. I will buy a ps3 just for this game alone...and they actually have a non-white protagonist as the character. thats new lol.

Give renting a try if it's an option.

That'd be a bit of a change-up from how Sony usually operates. Even if whatever they show looks to be on par with this, that'll be a monumentally awesome feat.

Great preview, great concept , art and animations.

Visuals look solid indeed. Not nearly to the level of thinking it's a CGI (like many, surprisingly think) but still looks good.

Indeed. The character models look AMAZING but the background is just PS2 with better textures :P

Can't wait to see what the final game will look like. Plenty of time till then...

ICO: Fighting small shadow monsters
NICO: Fighting huge colossus
TRICO: ... you have a giant monster as a pet... I can't even imagine the scale of the enemies we'll be facing heh.

BTW... anybody else thinking... Never-ending Story? :)

Just look at the geometric details man, I don't care for textures much. look that each and every feather on the monster and each and every brick on the backgrounds is a 3D object. the polygon details are insane. the way the ground breaks when monster walks is insane, just like SotC. new gameplay is abound and scenery is just awesome when they are sitting at night with fire burning in the background.

Be Warned People! a classic is in making...its been a long long time since I felt like this after watching a video. those terryfyingly beautiful days are back when we saw the ads for "Ocarina of Time" or "SotC". looking at the underwater gameplay gave me shivers of happiness, all those classic feelings have rebirthed today. thanks gamersyde for being so quick. excellent graphics, music and animations. just emotionally awesome!
