Xbox 360 PS3

Crytek released a bunch of new assets from their new engine, CryEngine 3, built to work with Xbox 360, Playstation 3, MMO's, DX9 and DX10. A really high-quality version of the video shown previously this month (with some additions) was also released.

The city shots look really weak. Some of the later shots look great. Last shot looks poor too. Crytek might need some time to develop the engine more and develop assets / a game for the engine, so I'm not willing to say it's bad. Wait until they actually release something on 360 or PS3 and then we can really comment.

Who actually gave Gamersyde these shots. At least one of them I KNOW to be from an Ultra High quality Crysis mod that runs at very low framerates on the best PCs. Some of these shots are NOT from CryEngine 3, and probably not from Crytek at all...

can't wait to see the video :)

i don't want to judge until i watch it because from a lot of the screens it doesn't look like much of a jump from Cryengine2.

Thanks :)

If it's the same video from IGN, it looks very unimpressive. City shots look well below old Unreal Engine 3 standards, really weak even for consoles. But like I say, it may take Crytek some time to get up to speed.

The console demo video was chugging a bit. :( Hopefully it's just early days framerate bugs that will be fixed.

yeah, it's a shame i can't remember what CE2 looked like this early on in its development stage. Might give us an indicator of what kind of jump to expect.

Tbh its what i expected, cryengine 2 optimised to work on lower spec machines.
Seems theyve updated the lighting model a bit, looks more like the old images / vids of crysis when it was first announced (much denser lookin jungles with deeper greens and darker shadows to match).

Some of the city stuff as mentioned above looks a bit weak, but hey, at least theyre showing the engine can do that sort of stuff, in the past it looked like all it could do was open areas with jungles.

1) half of these shots come from cryengine2 user mods (they're even named like that on the source, you should have checked it), i remember seeing some of them months and months back

2) the one from the gdc demo are just snapshots from the hd video, which is 4 days old, and since they're double-compressed they don't look half as good as the direct feed ones will

Yeh some of those screen shots look dreadful, some even look exactly like the first cryengine tech demo. But there are 3 or 4 beutiful screen shots that look pre rendered but are realtime!

1) "Screen from modding community" doesn't exactly say "CryEngine 2 image", so it isn't easy to see. And 2), they're all directly from Crytek, so there's not much I can do!

Been playing Crysis lately on all very High settings and two things I noticed:

1) The 3rd screen here is from the first level of Crysis PC and they either got rid of a lot of vegetation, or the draw distance here is atrocious!

2) They need to work on the art in this game. Crysis can look so much better than it does. I've been browsing some mod/community forums and they can make the game look almost (almost within reason) photorealistic just by adjusting the time of day settings in the sandbox editor.

I'm waiting for this mod to release from some dude at the Crymod forums and the stuff he comes up with is unbelievable. All pretty much without performance hit. Check it out:

Just watched the window, jungle and woodland scenes are far superior than any of the other scenes. That waterfall looks pretty darn real! Best graphics on Xbox360 and PS3 by a mile.

Xbox360 seems to have more realistic lighting

pc eh, why? CE 2 is more impressive than this... I think it looks very nice for consoles though, they've captured the essence of the game, and it still looks better than most console games barring KZ2, Gears 2 and RE5

I think PC aswell because theyre adding features and optimizing, that will benefit the engine in all environments. The video only looks worse because lower quality/resulution assets are being used due to the limitations of the consoles, expect PC versions to be much huger quality.

I think it looks like Crysis, crappy, grey and bland :P
Farcry 2 got the idea right though, that engine game actually looked interesting and warm. Everything in Cryengine just looks so dull.

Although this looks pratty damn good, I've never been a fan of photo-mapping, games like RE5, Gears, Killzone 2 and ME impress me a whole lot more.

Were you playing on a black and white monitor?

Crysis is probably one of the most colourful games out there.

I find it amusing that in the trailer when the footage showed shooting and explosions they showed the 360 version while the walking and such was on PS3.

But in the forest looked good.
One thing I noticed was when the segment changed from 360 to PS3 in the scene with water and mountain...I personally thought PS3 version looked better there.
Ah well.

This is a tech demo and as any engine, early stuff looks bad or good, but thats why they keep improving the engine until it looks good and runs good.

My request is, make Crysis or Crysis-ish game on PS3. Make it look good for a console (KZ2 is hard to to beat), make it play good and run good, and I will definitely buy it.

As usually people commenting about Crysis here doesn't know anything about it. Then again I am not surprised about it...

CryEngine 2 is really impressive, there really isn't any competition right now. This new engine would be interesting to see running on PC to see how much improvement they have made for performance.

The sandbox editor was really great too, I would even say the best map editor what I have tried so far. Really powerful and easy to use.

Looks quite disappointing to be honest when compared to CryEngine 2 and Crysis. Not to mention the framerate is pretty poor and pop-up is present up the wazoo.

I want to see how it looks on a High-End PC.

And I'm pretty sure some of those screens are from Crysis mods.
