Xbox 360 PS3

Resident Evil 5 has been released today in Japan, and of course DjMizuhara uploaded some videos of the game (PS3 version) already. He always tells us that he didn't like the demo at all, but actually enjoys the full game quite a bit.
Update: Second video is up, with more to come tomorrow!

thanks for the upload Dj(downloading now), i hope you're right about it being better than the demo, because i found the demo to be disappointing as well.

demo was great in co-op. Its just the dated control system that hits you - everything else is on par with this generation (graphics exceeding most games out there). Its a shame in a way, a resident evil game (or any "survival horror") with a cover system could really open up some possibilities - especially when ammo's rationed

I was wondering why the game doesn't look as good as what I've seen on my TV yesterday.

Now I've noticed that this is from the PS3 version, so whether this is not a very good capture or there are indeed quite noticeable differences between both versions.

You really think it needs a cover system? There's usually not too many enemies that are firing projectiles at you in these games. I'd rather he had a good roll or evade move and some more intense and effective hand to hand combat moves. After seeing moves like the curbstomp in Gears of War, it looked so weak when Chris stomps on a downed enemy.

Dj- are there any specific reasons you can mention why you like the full game that much more than the demo?

Hmm I wonder ...

Perhaps he meant compared to the demo.

Only interested in the single player on this game, I get the feeling Sheva is guna be more of a hinderence than a help.

A compressed capture is never as good as the game on TV.

I heard Japanese version is censored, true?

I thought the game was officially out already? They're already selling it in my country.

Anyways, I'm talking about retail versions and once they are massively available you guys will notice there's a noticeable difference between the Xbox 360 version and this one (Once again, if it's not a video coding issue)

The lower quality is mostly related to compression. If you look at this demo comparison, you'll see that the PS3 demo does look a bit worse then the X360 version, but not as bad as these videos (because of compression).

Yep, Capcom and their Xbox360-first policy. The demo on the PS3 was a chugging pain in the ass, and visually buggy to boot. I wasn't getting it in the first place but it warrants the bitching.

What I have noticed is that the Xbox 360 retail version looks better than the Demo. More crisp, vibrant colors, incredible lightning and more.

As you have said, the opacity and overall dullness in this video (PS3 version) is probably due to video compression. If not, expect quite a fuzz on the internet about the graphical differences between both consoles.

This one to my eye, looks better than MGS4 and Gears of War 2 (Not all the time but it has stellar scenes) I don't mention KZ2 because while RE5 looks miles better in terms of texturing, it doesn't have as much stuff going on as KZ2, at least not in the first level. It'd say however, that the version I've seen (Xbox 360) is up there with KZ2 as the best looking games of the generation so far.

I'm not sure about this. DMC4 looked virtually the same on both consoles and RE5 was made with PS3 in mind from the beginning. Of course, DMC4 while great looking, isn't as visually impressive as RE5. For people saying the Xbox 360 wouldn't ever pull MGS4 visuals last year, I think this is the answer... and even better.

Yes i think a cover system for resident evil would add to the experience a great deal. Theres hardly ever anybody firing at you in resident evil games true. Instead you have "infected" crawling, running, at you..climbing over cover. I can easily imagine the next resident evil having you take cover to try and avoid the infected, having the infected arms grab at you as you hide behind a fliped over table and then allow you to use that table as a ram to push them all back. I'd put money on cover, and the enviroment surroundings, playing a much bigger part in resident evil 6.

Okay, after watching the 2nd video I can say it's not an encoding issue. The Xbox 360 simply looks much better. The framerate suffers a bit in this video even in non crowded scenes and those explosions are nowhere near the Xbox 360's which resembles those seen in Lost Planet.

Noticeable difference my friends. Those objective people with both consoles please post your impressions.

Xbox360-first policy? AFAIK Capcom had MORE programmers working on the PS3 version of the MT Framework engine (the engine used by Dead Rising, Lost Planet, DMC4 and RE5) and therefore their policy should be rather called PS3-first.
This is more likely the result of Sonys BluRay-first policy: put an expensive BD drive in the console and use a cheap GPU to lower costs.

RSX is'nt any less cheap than Xenos (at least not by any big margin) its just less well designed.

I correct my statement: MS put a lot of money in developing an efficient GPU with the newest technology available (like unified shaders) while Sony had to cut costs in that sector and simply used an old GPU by nVidia

I'm downloding the videos now but from having played both the 360 and PS3 demo, I'm expecting the 360 version to look a little bit nicer than the PS3 version. For one, the PS3 demo lacks any AA so there were lots of jaggy edges and the framerate was weaker.

It's the reason I've pre-ordered the 360 version, although I may pick up the PC version too as I expect that will be the best version of all if Lost Planet and Devil May Cry 4 are anything to go by. Both those games run terrific on my PC at resolutions and with high AA that the consoles can only dream about.
