Xbox 360 PS3

Tomorrow will see the release of Tom Clancy's HAWX on Xbox 360 and PS3, so as usual here is our first 10 minutes video of the game (Xbox 360 version) showing the whole first mission/tutorial. I'm sure most of you guys have played the demo, and know quite precisely what to expect from this game.

adverage at best. They need to stop yearly milking the Tom clancy brand and focus on bringing us something with substance. I want a high production value Ghost recon (one that doesnt take away key gameplay elements for its multiplayer). As as much as i liked Recon 2 it was little more than an extension upon the first... the same can be said for vegas 2 - this is what you get with yearly outings

I hate hate hate to say this after bashing the demo to death...
But....... it sort of looked cool..... :D Hahaha.
Especially at 07:05, when your two missiles missed that helicopter.

Im gonna go to my 360 and boot up Ace Combat 6 now, and compare. If my memory serves me right, AC6 is miles better, but if it isnt, i might pick up Hawx after all..

God i hate that name though. its like "look at me! imma little 12 year old fighter pilot! im an 31337 haxx00r and sh1t!"

This looks even more unrealistic than Ace Combat 6.

Been playing this for a good few hours now, and I've gotta say... I'm having way more fun than I ever did on AC6. Now those missions were bland, but HAWX has some of the most varied and interesting objectives I've ever played in a flight combat game. Almost every single mission plays out totally differently, throwing in unexpected twists and surprises along the way. The Backhand mission... is badass.

Bah! Whatever happened to the Clancy games being tied to realism? Of course, I can accept that they have to cut some corners in order to make the game actually playable, but come on! With HAWX they didn't even try. I'm so freaking tired of all these arcade flying games where every plane has their own missile factory and can make the most impossible turns without stalling or having the pilot passing out. Also, the fact that it defaults (and is built around) to third person view got to be one of the worst design choices in modern time.

Man...this takes me back to the good old days of Falcon, F-117A and other flight games that were a lot of fun. The tie-in into Ghost Recon was quite cool. I was totally going to ignore this game until I saw the 10-min vid. I might now just have to pick it up..

since when was splinter cell, raindbow six vegas, GRAW, or any recent clancy game realistic?

i take fun over realism anyday, especially when it comes to typically boring flight games.

That is kinda my point. The series has been going downhill since the move to consoles. However, especially GRAW at least hinted at some realism compared to most other games out there. It's not like the traditional run and gun game where you can take a direct hit by a rocket launcher without dying.

HAWX in the other hand goes in the complete opposite direction! If you play the full game, you will see things that are nothing but ridiculous (tanks getting dropped into battle by tiny parachutes come to mind). It's a good game, but it shouldn't have gone by the Tom Clancy name.

thats what i'm getting it, why not go under the tom clancy name considering it is no longer associate with uber realism, and hasnt been for some time?

sure, the first ghost recon and early rainbow six titles where realistic, but that was what? over 10 years ago....it's not like the change from "realism" to "accessible" has happened over night, you really shouldn't be surprised by the direction this game has taken, since all tom clancy games since 1999 have gone in this very same direction.

at the end of the day tom clancy titles are typically approachable and fun games wrapped in a political and grounded universe. they have been for the past 10 years, and i didnt expect that to change with HAWX. it's fun and accessible. if you really want full blown sim flight games where you can fiddle with every possilbe control option like a real aircraft, i suggest focusing your attention away from consoles and towards the PC.
