Xbox 360 PS3

Another great game was released last week on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Capcom's Street Fighter IV. An amazing fighter, tons of fun to play and great graphical style that works even better in-motion than I thought it would. I'll add more impressions here later (and feel free to post yours in the comments section), but until then here's the First 10 Minutes-video.

If you're interested in more gameplay, see these videos showing the intro and more from the Japanese version.

If you're like me and have played most versions of SF2 and SF3 I don't think you'll find anything here to warrant a purchase, unless you're just crazy about online (lag and all)

Most people who are into Street Fighter played almost every version yet they'll likely do the same for SFIV. SFIV tho have alot of the same ways to play does offer new strategies and features itself, combine that with some new characters and new look and you got a game worth the purchase if your a SF fan. Plus online is just a good option, not a necessity when it comes to street fighter

An amazing game, literally the only game I have played since wednesday. And as for the online I've had a couple laggy matches, the rest have been silky smooth and actions happen when I press for them so no complaints here!

Thanks for the video but seeing Ryu and Ken just reminds me of how many people only ever pick them and the proceed to throw those flipping fireballs and dragon punches ad nauseum....

i hope nobody buys the costume dlc for this. Do not support the practice of ripping contents from the disc to charge you extra for it a few weeks after release.

Wasn't it created for the collectors edition?if that's the case i see no problem with them charging people who bought the normal edition

The bad:
On crt the flicker of the energy bar is too strong.
Sometime there are missing collision and teleport (after a jump i was landing on the right of ken and puff i was on the left).
The movies have bad vsync.
The good:
Is Street fighter.

Created for the collectors edition?? WTF?! Even if that was true, it would still be unacceptable. At least one additional costume per character is expected STANDARD for all fighting games. DOA, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Soul Caliber all have it. Charging $20 for ONE alternate costume per character like SF did is pathetic!

Don't get me wrong, I've loved every minute with SF IV so far and it's definitely worth buying, but please people don't buy the dlc.

Just looking at the cutscenses you realize that Street Fighter never really had much of a story at all, and you're always left with the thought about why you're fighting the characters in random places. Why is Ryu still a vagabond? Why would Ken be fighting Blanka in what looks to be an active volcanoe? Why would two best friends want to pummel the hell out of one another over and over? It's okay in the versus mode, but if we really want to change the fighting genre, it really wouldn't hurt to have a little interactivity with the world instead of just relying on cutscenes to fill in all of the gaps between matches. I know someone wants to bash me, but what's wrong with a little third person roaming through a small world to spice things up a bit. I don't see how a developer can make a game with physics, large open worlds or small enviroments full of vegetation, buildings, NPCs etc. , but when we play fighters all of that stuff is missing. Just look at how ridiculous those backgrounds are in Street Fighter IV. I mean the NPCs. Count down to bash 1...2.....3

Actually the opposite is true. Both veterans and newbies to SF4 will find the game amazing, I know I did.

Omega, when you add adventure aspects, it ends up being half-ass (Mortal Kombat!)

So, Manager, no install? Should do it as it cuts load times down to eight seconds!

It's completely worth buying
New character VS possibilities. New moves that change strategies, new depth and strategies
This game is addictive, deep, and really fun to play. Much more accessible to newbs 2.
You sound as if you haven't even tried it yet. Just spewing what you've read online

I just cannot resign myself to buying that game... i mean...

A 3D Street Fighter was all new for Street Fighter EX series... now it s not fresh (for me).
I don't really like the rendition of environments, and that s pretty important for me. As for Gameplay itself, beeing a SFIII guy, i just feel like this is a step backward. I tried the game a little, and i couldn't enjoy it as much as i had hoped.
My friends saying the final boss is the worse ever finishes to loose the deal.

The new characters are not as interesting to me as was Sakura when she arrived in the SF Roster (although to be honest a lot of new ones in SFIII were pretty lame to me).

So, not for me :) but i sure hope you guys have fun !

You know you can custom search games with connection stability.

I've been playing SF since Super Turbo way back in 94, and I havent been this excited since the announcment of alpha1 (which turned out to be a huge disappointment). 2009 is definately shaping out to be the year of SF. HDremix and SFIV all gaining high praise from critics!Capcom what took you so long?!

I can only hope that MVC3 is on the way...
EDIT
I guess the announcement was Lost Planet 2

Guess what buddy it's just you, as an sf veteran since the very start i consider this the best sf game yet. And so does the MANY experienced pro players i know, but i remember you whining about how terrible the game looked and how dead the street fighter series was when the first batch of screenshots where released (Hi synce).

Not being able to enjoy games for what they are rather than what you want/expect them to be must be pretty boring, your loss i guess ;)

Best fighter ever.. I havent been able to force myself to like any other fighting games other than Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, due to their overall simplicity.

Pretty long loading times in this vid compared to the 360 version.

Hmm, Im with Broman on this one. I don't see the appeal, personally. I'm an SF3: 3rd strike man. Already took it back to the store. My brother is on the same page, too. I've been playin' SF since it first came out in arcades. I can't fathom why they went with 3d characters instead of beautiful hand drawn sprites- it still plays 2d after all. I don't like the art style either( too bulky). Definitely not the most balanced either, IMO. To each his own, you know...

I bought this game having not played any of the previous games before so I'm seeing this with fresh eyes not ones that played the original games and went ga-ga over it in the early 90s.

While I wouldn't go as far as to it's rubbish - it certainly isn't - I really can't see what all the fuss is about to be honest. It feels very ordinary and somewhat retro. The 2D seems very restrictive after playing all those 3D fighters of late, and I really do not like the graphical style at all. After the gorgeous detailed art of SoulCalibur IV and Virtua Fighter 5, this is a bit of an ugly duckling in my opinion. The faces especially look downright bizarre on some of the characters and the animation isn't anything special after seeing silky-smooth, motion-captured moves in other fighters.

With the lack of any tutorial, the so-so presentation (bland title screen, nonsensical poorly animated cutscenes, etc.) and a somewhat dull single player mode, it's not an easy game to get into and I actually regret having bought it in the first place.

I'm no hardcore fighting fan but I do like to have fun playing these kinds of games and I can't say I am with Street Fighter IV. I shouldn't have to work this hard to like a game and therein lies the problem. I really wish I could like this game but I can't. It's not for lack of trying either. I guess these 2D fighting games just aren't for me. :(

I will say that it's OK played with friends though but then so is any fighting game. This isn't doing anything different or special apart from trying to mimic a 15 year old game. Looks like I just missed the boat on this one...
