Xbox 360 PS3

Atari sent us these images of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. And as usual the guys at Starbreeze don't have to be ashamed of their baby.

It looks quite outdated due to the polycount.

Looks like they did not add one poly to the original...

If this game looks at least as good as The Darkness, I'll be a happy camper.

looks ok. lighting looks half decent...honestly tho, riddick on the xbox looked so good that i'd be happy with just an AA version of that game. definatly one i'll be playing...just a matter of deciding if its worth buying or only renting.

I played Riddick on the xbox. Although I was blown away by the graphics, I found the game as a whole quite mundane and boring.

Hopefully there is enough substance in this one to warrant a purchase.

Yeah, the graphics are disappointing considering the look of the first game, which ran at 60fps if I remember correctly. It is very similar to Ninja Gaiden 2 compared to the original on Xbox. So it doesn't make the same impact as before, that is a shame, but I hope it does justice to the greatness of the first game one way or another.

I regret nothing about playing the original to death.

I regret nothing about completing the campaign start to finish every. single. day.

I regret only that I have but one life to give, so that the good word of Riddick may live on.

Amen.

And, I agree it does look kind of shabby. Hopefully the framerate will be smooth and solid, the jaggies are nonexistent, and the lighting is spot on. I'll take 2 of 3.

Regardless, I can't imagine this game being anything but horrifying fun, especially for those playing it the first time.

The multiplayer could be a make or break for the sales/life of the series, though...

Hell, it looks better then Quake 4, so good enough for me. It isn't terrible looking, but it does look like iD made the game, and so far their engines have been less then appealing (PLASTIC is taken to a new level, seriously)

Looks decent but with Killzone 2 in mind, this isn't going to win any awards in the gfx department. First Riddick on xbox was a very nice game. The Darkness could not lure me into another Starbreeze trip.

It looks very good imo but at the same time, it has to be 60fps as its just an hd upgrade of a very good looking game but a game that ran great on the orig XBOX. Oh and i didn't know Edward Norton was in this! (pic 5).

Well, I don't think they made this to win a gfx award, the first game was fucking amazing I can't wait for it. Let me choose between KZ2 and this for february and I'll take this.

You couldn't be further from the truth...

I can't believe I forgot about this one when I mentioned Killzone 2 being the only interesting FPS this year in another thread, I'm actually more hyped for this one...though it isn't really a FPS as much as it is a mixture of FPS, stealth, melee combat and adventure. Awesome!

the only "problem" i have with it is that i've played half of it already. THAT is whats going to stop me buying it tbh. gonna be a sweet as hell rental tho.

That is a valid complaint I suppose. Killzone 2 would be a completely new experience and also has the (hopefully great) MP component going for it.

I suppose I just have such good memories playing Riddick, and looking back at the game, it still looks far more interesting than most things around these days. A bit of bias sentiment for sure, but that won't stop me from judging the game as it is. If it will only offer 3 hours of extra content for instance, I won't pay the full price either.
