Xbox 360

Square-Enix released this new Japanese trailer of Star Ocean: The Last Hope. The video quality isn't very good, but it's still a nice watch.
Update: Better quality version online.

Nuke it from orbit; it's the only way to be sure.

Game looks beautiful. Probably won't play it though, I've never understood Japanese RPGs.

After spending 40 hours in Persona 4 thus far, I'm not finding this game as exciting as I once did--or any upcoming RPG for that matter. But it does look nice.

Looks good but the graphics are all over the place.

Gameplay looks pretty cool though, looks like there will be plenty of combos to go through :)

OMG! the closups on characters remind me of an anime style Thunderbirds...The way they don't change expressions...it sure is a style choice but it gives me shivers like Thunderbirds did.

It's not a flaw, it's a design choice.

Dolls don't have expressions.

I'm planning on getting this as well, it looks amazing

But yeah it's a shame the characters remind me of marionettes/the movie Team America.

I don't really have time for RPGs (although I bought Mass Effect and Fable 2, I haven't finished them yet though) but I think I might buy this as it just looks so awesome!!! :D

Erm, there already is an anime Thunderbirds, lol! It's called Thunderbirds 2086. (It's a 2D show not CGI though, it was made in the 80s.)

70 days, ive started my countdown. This is easily my most anticipated game of this generation. And while the trailers have been sporadic in quality, ivecomplete faith the game will be amazing given the previous 3 and the remakes.

Edge Maverick! thats either the best character name in gaming history, or the worse.. i cant decide. Either way you can pretty much assume he'll be limp wristed.

Such a shame its a JRPG..and will keep the tired old combat mechanics and random encounters of that.

Star Ocean is an Action RPG, it also does not have random encounters at all. It's pretty unique in the style it runs to as well, so it's defectively not your common JRPG.

The lighting looks insanely good IMO and the engine, although rough in places, holds out very well indeed.

I'll never understand why Japanese devs insist on putting chicks with cat ears and dressed-up-little-10-year-old-girls in their games.

As if Oblivion, fallout 3, and any other western rpg isnt using the same old boring action only shooter style mechanics weve been seeing since the 80s. Things havnt changed in ages, there are just differant styles. I prefer my games turn based(although as someone mentioned SO games are action rpgs) If anything, we need more classic jrpgs and less classic wrpgs in the world today, seeing as how the wrpg is much closer to a genre that is way too overcrowded, that being FPS.

Nor will I, I live here in tokyo and see the stuff daily, its creepy.

I think so too, which is another reason I think it will come out fine in the end. I dont like the techno world though, it looks way to pixelated to me.

Char design is so lame. Allways the same like in almost all other JRPGs, I dont want to play a little boy. Give me a real man as Mainchar.

I have to agree about the Thunderbirds thing. The animations look terrible (like most other games in this generation) and especially the mouths move like they are made of wood. Don't tell me it's a 'design choice' since it's simply lazyness of the developers.

^ Agreed. The character design is way too japan-ish for my liking. Don't dig their, pardon, "pedo" style...
