Japan demo of Resident Evil 5

Capcom has released a demo of Resident Evil 5, though only on the Japanese Marketplace. Here is a video of the first level, while another video showing the other one should be here later. First impressions is that the graphics are great, controls takes some time getting used to.
Update: Level 2 video added. Apparently you can turn 180 degrees, get weapons from your partner and both shoot and open barrels, which this video shows.

Just played some of it. Best graphics in ANY game EVER, IMO. At least that's my biggest impression about the game. Forget Gears 2, Uncharted, what I've seen of Killzone 2, or even friggin Crysis. At least on a smaller scale, this game owns all of them.

Shadows, lighting, effects, models, textures, & image quality are all WELL beyond anything I ever thought possible at all on 360. Even all those videos and screenshots since the game was announced do no justice at all to how amazing the game looks.

From the AWESOMENESS of the enemies and environments they've shown in the last few trailers, the demo seems like a overused and a bit boring part of the game, frankly.

But, I Love all the african millitia themes... makes me want to go see Blood Diamond again. ; D

Looks nice, but it looks VERY much like RE4 gameplay wise. I noticed they re use a bunch of animation and stuff too.

The important part for me is the co-op. Hopefully it'll be good though.

why oh why didnt you shoot the red barrel while you were on the roof...!!!!!dam youuuuu!! i was sat there shouting at my screen 'shoot the barell shoot the barell" lol. i'm going to have to buy the game just to see if that red barrel was explosive or not now...

something i feel would be useful, unless there is one already but just wasnt used by the player of this video, is a button to change your direction from facing forwards to facing behind you in a split second. it was pain ful to watch the player s-l-o-w-l-y turn around as there was zombies trying to kill him!!! it would improve the flow of the action too. also the guns could have more impact, the pistol was like a potato shooter.

other then that looks like it'll be a pretty good game.

:D I can picture myself you sitting there screaming. I also forgot some ammo boxes in the house... was kind of stressed with the fat guy behind me.

The barrels explode and is one of the best ways to kill the big guy.

Are the analogue aiming controls as fiddly and inaccurate as other free aiming console games (Gears Of War, Uncharted, etc)?

Would it benefit from WASD keyboard and mouse control?

WOW! it looks amazing! and gameplay wise it looks just like re4! that's rad!!! and to those who say it looks better than Killzone 2...BWAHAHAH! I dont think so! right behind it though. Killzone's lighting effects and ANIMATIONS! BLOW! this out of the water! but whatever it all about the gameplay! and it rules! both of them! CANT WAIT TO GET THIS ON Playstation 3! WOOT!

PS. Cant wait to get my hands on it, demo and then the full game, this looks amazing.
The music reminds me of RE4, very hectic and intense, nice orchestra.

How was RE4 ahead of it's time? It was great but i think it was pretty much the right game at the right time...and the sales and review scores seem to hint at the same thing.

And i just can't see this as being "ahead of it's time" either, since it obviously build heavily on what they did with RE4.

Looks like a perfect blend of Left 4 Dead and Dead Space.
AND YES BEFORE YOU MENTION IT, i know Dead Space was highly based on the gameplay in Resident Evil, and so on. But you see, i'm a total Resident Evil noob, i only played like 1 RE game in my entire life, so its new to me :D

Quite sad seeing this game's name all the time, because all it reminds me if some awesome older titles in this series who actually where a ton of fun to play.

RE4 was pretty much a standard shotter, everything who made the RE series where gone with this title, and RE5 is sadly even more so :/

I so wish they actually just released this game with a complete new name to not dirty the older titles down as much as they now have :/

Sure graphically and all it looks greate, but the game itself looks so uninpsired as RE4 did, it's just a shotter now, nothing more.

Just downloaded this with my jap account - didnt realise 1 month trials from games bought in the UK worked on that account but they do!!

Awesome demo, incredible graphics, all that weighing in with a less than 500meg download. Cannot wait to take this baby online co-op when the full game hits!!

You mean stogy controls and rooster keys were a good thing? I can certainly see why you'd think that the game has changed since the pace has been souped up a lot, but it's still pretty much RE if you ask me. The game really needed an update and it got one, and it was good. It most certainly was not just any shooter. It was panicky and hectic like few other games, and it certainly had more than a few elements of survival horror left.

Nah, your idea of what's quality and what is not is skewed by your affection for the old games, that's what i think. If someone made a game that played like RE1 today nobody would play it.

And before you get all preahcy on my ass i do think the old RE games are good, especially for their time, but much has happened in the world of games since 96.

I rather play RE like this than the old dumb way were the camera is like a security camera watching out, pissed me off.

Run,loading,switch angle, play...and so on.

This is much better.

this may very well be a good game, but the whole style of gameplay/scripted scenes/atmosphere etc. doesn't have anything to do with RE anymore

that franchise name was only used here to promote a new game franchise with Zombies, quite a pity in my opinion

RE4 killed the (to me) most important, most fascinating aspect of RE, the scariness

being hunted by a mob of enemies may be stressful, but it isn't even in the least scary

yes, RE needed fresh blood and yes, RE 4 was a good game,but not an RE game
