Electronic Arts released this long presentation video of Need For Speed: Undercover's HDE. What's HDE, it's basically the way the cars handling has been realistically (or not) modeled in the game. And it's pretty strange.

But ea has allways been a fan of using silly buzzwords for "features" in their games.
Nice to see some gameplay footage i guess, shame about the graphics they are pretty but very sterile looking.
I liked what I saw. And yes, there actually were some new stuff in there. I quite liked what I saw. Nice looking graphics and the game seems to play really smooth now. First NFS game in a LOOONG time that I have actually had any interest in...
i think they should start to get praised instead of all the EA hates moaning about them.
cheers for the video blim :)
Last year's ProStreet was a turgid, dull affair anyway but while Undercover looks much, much better, it doesn't look that different from MC:LA and the atmosphere doesn't seem to be there. I'm intending giving this a miss this year as I'm enjoying MC:LA far too much and don't see the need to own two very similar games. Of course, should the reviews declare it a must-have classic then I may reconsider and pick it up on the cheap after Christmas. I have to say that Undercover does look a little bland graphically though from those screenshots; the cars look nice but the textures look almost non-existent! :?
The emphasis on seeing the front of the car when you reverse isn't about looking pretty or being unique, it's because the gameplay is based around escaping from other vehicles he's trying to nail in the fact that features like this all add to the ease of controlling your car and seeing where you're going in tough situations. It's not new, but it's what you want in a getaway.
I may have to pick this one up.
Oh wait it's all done by a "flick of the switch"....wow amazing stuff.
You can do all the things shown in this video in ANY modern driving game with a good physics engine, and most of them do it with a lot more realism than this.
But don't let all my bitching fool you i am in fact looking forward to this game as i am a huge fan of the old nfs games, i was just annoyed that ea chose to make such a gimmicky video focusing on what is standard to all driving games, instead of actually showing new features and innovations.
I feel a bit sorry for the guy in the video, it's like ea's marketing team forced him to hype the blatantly obvious. ;)
So is being able to see your car from the side..
And so is that front wheel drive cars feel different from all wheel drive cars..
Omg. They have hit a new low LOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL
Seriously NFS went from the best in the business to the biggest joke in the business.
Dont fucking treat customers like 7 year old idiots. Give us proper physics and racing that takes SKIIIIIIILL. Can still be arcade, arcade racers are great, but not when they treat me like a damn kid. A 360 burnout when im driving at 200kph? Gimme a break, its not fun, its not cool, its just a joke.
I actually installed NFS Hot Pursuit, and Hot Pursuit 2 (i think thats what it was called, the first one that had night time racing and damage?), and had a GREAT time. So i'm not just talking with imaginary memories, the old games were great arcade racers.
This NFS game looks OK - similar to games of old, a bit sterile, bland environments, but the cops making a big return is good. Time will tell if it is better than MC:LA, but if it is, it will have to be stunning, because when you distill MC:LA down to its basics, it represents the pinnacle of street racing games. Just because you have read that it's tough, or you didn’t like previous MC games, it doesn't make it a bad game.
Honestly, the way some gamers behave these days - no wonder gaming is seen as a nerdy activity with idiots like some on here.
