i always loved the pes series, but on the next-gen consoles.. it just ain't the same anymore :(

PES08 was the broken foundation.
PES09 is THE foundation.
Hopefully PES10 will be the evolution that all we old-school PES fans crave.

Sorry Konami, you haven't got my money for this year.

First time you turn on PES, the first message should be "Do you want to disable the menu music?"
Options: "Omg thanks for asking, YES!" or "Nah i don't mind being ear raped"

this is the most frustrating soccer game i have ever played.
if you score a goal , the A.I. will score a miraculous goal in the next 5 minutes after you scored.
if you pass to your player after you scored he will walk away from the pass so the orther side will intercept , or the pass will reach your player but the pass will delibiretaly be so close to the defender so the defender will tackle you as soon as you recieve the ball. this is not A.I , this is the computer cheating and is very frustrating. i sometimes had about 5 shots on goal about 4 metres out and the A.I. will make that shot go way above the post or veer right or left away from the goal. All i do is curse this game and Konami every time bullsh.....t

i am sorry but this game's A.i. cheats to make the game close and frustrates the player with outdated 8 direction passing.
i yell out so many times "i didnt pass it to him" or "i threw the ball right why did he throw it straight"....
when the ball goes out for a throw why cant i stand infront of the other team
throwing the ball . when its my throw , the other team more often than not gets the ball because they stand sooo close and i cant move my player around to throw to him.
i probably will never play a konami soccer game again.
it isnt fun , it is unrealistic and frustrating.

This seems a generation behind "Be A Pro" in FIFA 09.

PES A.I has cheated since the very first one, although it does seem to be getting worse, especially if you up the difficulty, the A.I players miraculously become twice as strong and twice as fast and every shot is perfect lol!

I have the exact same feeling about the game.
Whenever I play it, I end up beeing so pissed, that I promise myself to nevr touch it again.

Additional things that are shitty:

At throw-ins, the players on the field do always have the same positions.
After free-kicks, the shooter stands there (like a piece of crap) doing nothing so that you can't make use of a rebounded ball.
AND, They sooo destroyed the passing system. It doesent matter anymore how long you press "A" to control how far you want the pass to go, because t simply doesn't work anymore....

I don't like PES on the next-gen at all. it's so un-pes.. it lacks great gameplay, looks ok but plays so so terribly. I don't know if other people think like me.

I don't know what Konami is thinking when they release a game such as this. The passing is horrible and shooting is from the same level.

I loved the series on the current or past-gen, but this ain't pes at all. :(

Previously Konami used the excuse of not having powerful enough hardware for the cheating A.I. on the last gen games, but now they have absolutely no excuse, i went off it as soon as i found out the A.I. cheated (I sort of knew this, but thought it was just me being paranoid), even in two player games the computer will interfere with things like passing, it is ridiculous, and i refuse to play a game where the A.I. screws me over just because i've put alot of time into it and become good at it.

what makes this game the foundation for future versions and thus, different from 08? Cause this game is just 100% the same as last year for me.

It's not exactly the same as last year's version. I can see how people think it has improved, but IMO it has actually stepped backwards and is worse than last year's. The gameplay, while more taxing and difficult, (which would be Seabass's solution to give sim heads that grew to love the series in the first place) is skewed, flawed, and most importantly, lacking any kind of fluidity that is synonymous with the PES games of old. If the controls were less stiff, and the ball less tacky, yet the AI were as good as the last gen ones, then it would have been an improvement, although not a very significant one. Certainly not enough to warrant the price of the game as a repackaged PS2 title. I've been known to bash the game in other threads, so I'll stay my wrath for it on this occasion. A few friends were playing it earlier, and for the first time ever, having being offered a go, I declined gratefully. After sampling the awesomeness of EA's delicacy, there's no going back to chewing on a regurgitated mess.
